This is my GO TO pattern for socks (I make 2 at a time on 2 circulars). I will adapt any stitch pattern to fit within this construction pattern because I love the way this pattern fits and works. Thank you so much for providing this!
Yes!!!! That is so awesome! Thank you so much for letting me know this, that just makes my day/week/year. Woohoo! Don’t keep it a secret – make sure you tell your knitting friends about it! :D

Super mooi
Hi Liat,
Thank you so much for this pattern.
I was hoping you can help me figure out what I did wrong. I’m knitting a 56-stitch sock with regular instep. On the faux heel flap, I keep ending up with one fewer stitch than I’m supposed to after working a round 3. Instead of 29 stitches after a round 3, I’m getting 27. I’ve tried again and again with the same result. I’m wondering if I’m accidentally working a k2tog when picking up the wraps, but I don’t think I am.
Any ideas?
Never mind! I definitely p2tog on one of the WS rows. Sorry! And thanks again!
Hi there! I’m so glad you’re loving this pattern. Sorry I couldn’t get to you in time to help, I was out of town. I’m so delighted you were able to track down the problem by yourself. Thanks for letting me know you’ve gotten it sorted!
Cheers,
Liat
I love this pattern and fits perfectly. Could you please help me (with this sock pattern). I would like to make a pair of socks for my husband. ie: a stitch count of 72 for foot and cuff. I need to know how many stitches on cast on toe, number of unwrapped stitches etc….. same recipe proportions but larger!! Possible?
Please help. Thank-you. ?
Hi Katharine,
I’m so sorry it’s taken so long to reply! Yes, I’d like to provide this update for you so that you can make large socks for your husband. I will work on this and let you know when it’s ready. Hugs!
PS – Just to help with the pattern, what size shoe is he? What is the measurement around the ball of the foot? Thanks!
Good morning! When I knit socks top down, I have twice as many rows in the heel flap as stitches I pick up to work the gusset and I love the way they fit. However, I prefer knitting from the toe up. I did one pair of socks using your faux heel flap and liked it but am thinking of ways to get more rows in the “flap” without the extra increases in the gusset. Any thoughts?
I think you need the extra gusset increases for the sock to come out right. Let me know if you discover something different!

I love this pattern! Have made several pairs, two at a time with it. One question, I get a ladder of holes in the gusset section. How do I stop this from happening? What am I doing wrong?
Hi Nancy,
I’m so sorry for the long delay! I’m not sure what you’re doing on the gusset – it might be the way you are doing your increases? If you want to send me an email with a photo, send it to [email protected] and I will try to help.
Cheers,
Liat
Hello Donna,
We have a top-down sock but it is not a faux heel flap. It has a regular heel flap where you pick up and knit stitches. It’s a good pattern and not difficult, but it does require picking up and knitting as a skill. In the pattern there is a link to a free video on how to pick up and knit. https://www.knitfreedom.com/free-pattern/top-down-socks-beginner-magic-loop-fingering/
Happy Knitting,
Candy

I just finished a pair of socks using the modification for high instep – best fitting socks I have ever made. My new favorite sock pattern!
Hi Beverly,
Thank you so much for your wonderful comment! I love that you are enjoying the fit of these socks. And it’s a fun pattern, too, isn’t it? Thank you again. :)
