  1. Two questions:
I am left handed. Generally, I just face a knitter to figure out how to do things left handed. Will my interpreting what to do be difficult for a lefty?

Also, and I’m sure you tell us, what are the best brands of needles to get for Magic Loop Knitting…and when they say a 40″ needle is that point to point, or only the plastic cord between the two needles.

    Thanks

    1. Hi Jo Anne,

I will have an easier time answering the second of your questions first: Here’s a post I wrote about needles that I recommend for Magic Loop. The measurement is always point to point.

For your first question, I’m assuming you are asking if my video instructions on how to knit socks be confusing to you since you are a left-handed knitters. My answer is: I don’t think so. You’ll be following along with a very simple written pattern, so you won’t get lost. And all my classes are guaranteed, so there’s no risk if you want to go ahead and try it. If you don’t love this class or if it doesn’t work for you, I will gladly refund your money.

      I hope this helps!
      Liat

  2. Thank you, Liat! I recently purchased your Toe-Up Socks video and what a God-send! Your descriptions and most especially your understanding and caring approach are the best. I’m knitting again after many years and started again last year as the birth of my granddaughter approached. So, for her and in memory of my knitting mother, I succeeded in knitting a simple ball and then a lovely afghan Encouraged that I could actually complete a project with little pain and great pleasure, I thought”socks”…why not? My first try was ok…a practice one on 4 needles; but, alas my fingers kept getting in the way, or was it the needles???? So, I searched and found the wonders of Magic Loop. Now, I found you! Thanks again, and wish me luck with my first toe-up, two at a time pair!

    1. Hi Joyce! I’m so delighted that you love my e-book! Your comments make me SO happy! You will do great at your first pair of toe-up socks and you will never look back!

  3. Hi Vicki,
I love the Eye of the Partridge heel! This is a great question, because there IS no heel flap on the toe-up Fleegle heel. There are many patterns that do call for a flap, but they are more complicated and I don't think they are suitable for a beginner – that's why I went with the Fleegle heel.

I definitely know that "Toe-Up Socks: Essential Techniques and Patterns from Wendy Knits" (http://www.amazon.com/Socks-Toe-Up-Essential-Techniques/dp/0307449440/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1287060300&sr=8-1) has a lot of different toe-up patterns that involve a heel flap. You can buy this at your LYS – it's a relatively new book.

    I hope this helps!

    Liat

  4. Hi Liat! On my next pair of socks, I'd like to try the Eye of the Partridge heel.

    Row 1: (right side) * SL 1, K 1*, repeat across, ending with K 1.
Row 2: and all even rows: SL 1, purl across row.
    Row 3: SL 2, * K 1, SL 1,* repeat across row ending with K 2.
    Row 4: repeat Row 2.

With your toe-up pattern, I'm having trouble figuring out where to start. Where is the heel flap in the pattern? Thanks so much! Vicki

  5. ok I better back up”¦..I’m having an issue it seeems. I am knitting my socks inside out”¦I remember doing this once before”¦I’m gonna go back and watch the video again, but in the meantime wanted to send you praises along with my conundrum :-/”¦.any suggestions?

    MJs

  6. Hi Vicki, that's fantastic! Check page 22 of your e-book: there are links to two toe-up sock patterns, one of which is for fingering-weight yarn. You do have to be a member of my free email newsletter to access the free download area, but once you sign up, you can download many sock patterns in many different weights.

I'm so happy you are knitting socks!
    Liat

  7. After purchasing your video e-book and doing a lot of practicing, I'm feeling confident to try it for real! Can you recommend a good pattern for 2-at-a-time, toe up socks using fingering sock yarn for an adult?

Thank you so much! Your videos are fantastic!

  8. You will love it and never go back! The videos demonstrate me knitting Continental style except for the tricky bits in the heel, where I demonstrate the techniques both ways. HOWEVER, since you have the video knitting dictionary, which shows each technique both American and Continental, I think you will have absolutely no problem following the tutorials. Remember, if you don't totally love it — if for any reason it doesn't knock your socks off, I'll refund your purchase right away.

When you buy the video e-book, you will own it and be able to watch the videos whenever you want forever. You can even put it on a thumb drive and take it with you and watch it on different computers. All you need is an internet connection.

Thanks for asking these great questions. Stay in touch!

  9. This is a technique I'd love to learn. I knit American style and would like to know if the videos use both styles or just Continental? Also, if I purchase the video book, will I be able to view the videos as often as needed and will have have them forever? I'm a visual learner.

    Thanks!
