After two years in Palo Alto, the kids and I are getting ready for a big change — one that feels both brave and right. Between heartfelt goodbyes, reflections on what we’ve learned, and a final celebration with friends, I’m finding peace in closing this chapter and beginning the next.

This summer has been all about tiny shifts with big impact — weaning off melatonin, taking pajama walks as a family, and rediscovering rest in new ways. I wanted to share what we’ve been learning, what’s been helping, and the quiet joys that are showing up in the midst of it all. This isn’t a knitting post, but it’s full of rhythm, breath, and connection — and that feels close enough.

We celebrated Milo’s birthday with homemade pizza, popsicles, and lots of friends. Ok it felt like a lot, there were probably only like 5 kids… This month’s post is a mix of personal and KnitFreedom news :)

Surprise! Carlos and I have discovered that we are pregnant and expecting a baby boy on November 21st. We also went on a whirlwind trip to London, England, to visit my sister. This July we are enjoying home life with Milo as we try to stay cool, get enough sleep, and live a semi-organized happy life with a wonderful three-year old.

I credit knitting with saving my life, as it was the instigator for getting me out of eating disorder treatment and connecting me with a pure and positive outlet for recovery.

It’s been so long since I shared something personal (apart from my surprise “I’m-married-and-having-a-baby” post) that I realize it’s time to get back to it. So here’s what’s been going on since I last blogged about my life.

I’d like to share with you the happy news that our son, Milo Rafael Garcia Gat, was born on August 11, 2019.
My husband, Juan Carlos, has decided to stay home and help with Milo and KnitFreedom so we can continue posting content and new videos. That’s very exciting for me!

Wonderful news, dear KnitFreedom readers! It’s been a secret until now, but I’m pregnant! We are due on August 12th, and I will be going on maternity leave starting the day of this post. Candy, our lovely Customer Happiness Guru, will be here to help you.

As I prepare for my first knitting-related interview, to be broadcast on TheLastYearOfYourLife.com, I’m realizing that there is a cool story behind KnitFreedom, and I wanted to share it with my lovely readers. I really believe in this business and as I try to succeed at teaching people to become Knitting Superstars over the Internet, it helps to remember why I started.
