Here’s What’s Been Going On…

Liat Gat - Founder

January 21, 2013

I’ve missed you guys so much! As you know, I haven’t put up a new blog post since before Thanksgiving, and each week that I’ve missed a new one, I’ve felt more guilty and more pressure to write one.

I’ve been focusing really hard on re-designing the new KnitFreedom website, from the ground up, which includes lots of big-picture ideas and tiny details. I’ve been distilling KnitFreedom down to what it’s really useful for – finding good videos on knitting techniques, basically – and creating a website that’s going to be so easy and wonderful and fun to use.

Which means instead of swatches, videos, and knitting celebrity interviews, I’ve been creating stuff that looks like this:

A mishmash of the new mockups for KnitFreedom

…which is great and it’s going to mean a beautiful new site that’s going to be way easier for everyone to use. But which really distracts my brain from making knitting videos.

And a big bad neck injury doesn’t help…

A few months ago I started to notice some problems in my neck and shoulders when I went to yoga. I would do some normal-seeming stretches and my whole left arm would go tingly or numb. I’ve gotten massage, dry needling, and last Wednesday went and got prolotheraphy injections. They hurt and I’ve been on painkillers since then.

All this while I’ve been getting the sweetest emails from you, my readers, asking if I’m ok and when I will be back to posting regularly. I want to come back but I’ve been so overwhelmed, and also feeling my way sort of in the dark as to how to treat my neck injury.

Liat getting firecupped
My sister fire cupped my whole back – a common Chinese remedy that brings up old injuries and stored emotion

As I was crying on the massage table today (my sister is an amazing, caring massage therapist and she was monitoring my neck), I was feeling so guilty for the time I’ve spent away from my video camera and the site (at least, the part of the site that you can see). She advised me just to let you, my dear readers, know what’s going on.

So this is what it is: I’m doing the best I can to make this site the best it can be, but I’m not done yet, and I’m just not strong or fast enough to make it happen without anyone noticing.

I’m so sorry

I’m so sorry if I’ve worried you or let you down. You know I wouldn’t be able to do what I love and what I do best – make knitting videos – without each and every one of you looking online for ways to make your knitting better, take on new challenges, and try new techniques – AND telling your friends about me and KnitFreedom.

I need to ask you all to be patient as I, imperfectly, try to finish what I started and make this site as wonderful and enjoyable to use as I hope the videos already are. I will be maybe getting an MRI on my neck and continuing to see what I can do to heal myself so that my body is strong and healthy for the years to come.

I have tears in my eyes as I write this to you – I’m sorry for disappearing, I’m sorry for trying to make it all happen on my own without explaining where I went, and I’m so grateful for you all for still believing in me and taking good care of me in your hearts.

Thank you so much.

Of course, I’m open to your comments and would love to hear from you, as always.

  1. I have been cleaning out my emails this morning and discovered I’ve overlooked several of them in the past. And, yes, yours was one of them. Oh my goodness!!!! My deepest apologies! I had no idea what you’ve been going through these last months.
Please keep us posted on your improvement along the way.
    You’re in my prayers……..God Bless!

  2. Hi Liat, I have read just about all of the comments that the ladies have written to you. You have a wonderful, caring group of ladies who care for you so much.
Please be as kind and loving to yourself as you are to us. You understand our hang up about knitting and I feel like you are talking to me personally. Please listen to us when we say we don’t want you to pressure yourself. I’m an old lady now and have been plagued with illness all of my life. I always felt I was letting people down so much that I was afraid to join organizations where I was counted on to fulfil my duties.
I realize now that I didn’t trust people to understand or I just didn’t give other people enough credit for caring, loving and understanding. It took me years to understand this. I did the best I could.
My tears flow for you because I want you to understand that you are loved because you love. I can feel the love in your teaching, whether it be writing or videos. You are a dear young woman, and a joy to all of us. When I could no longer walk it was you who got me realizing that I could still knit. Like so many women I knit as a volunteer.
Now, I do take some fun time to knit and learn new techniques from you. I just got the Superstar programme and it has opened new doors for me. Remember, one door closes, maybe for awhile or for good but another one opens. You did that for me.
I will pray for you. You know I mention you so often that my sons even ask
    “how is Liat doing.”
Take care little one and listen to your body, and pay attention to what it is telling you. Much love from one of your oldest (in age) fans.

    1. Thank you Dorothy!! I don’t even know what to say, your comment has touched me so deeply. I can’t believe your sons ask how I am doing! Tell them I’m doing so much better and that I send my love. Thank you so much, again! {{{Hugs}}}

  3. Wow – I’ve been out of it. I didn’t even know you were experiencing health issues until I got the recent email. I so hope you’re feeling better with each passing day and that you’re back to 100% as soon as you possibly can be. As I don’t need to tell you, it is so hard to be in constant pain like that. It sounds like you’re on the mend… which is such great news! I hope that you not only continue to feel better, but that you’re growing stronger with each passing day.

I’ve been dealing with my own horrible back, leg, foot, ankle issues since the end of last summer. It eventually took me off knitting and spinning completely – hence I’ve not been in the loop. At the turn of the year my back went big time – apparently caused by the limping from the other injuries – nothing helped, not yoga, not physical therapy, not acupuncture or cupping or even pain killers. Things were quite grim for a while there, every day was one long, painful experience. So I feel your pain, literally (well, not your exact pain – nobody can feel that – but I can relate). About 3 weeks ago I finally started to experience relief after having some joint injections (a crazy experience, that at first left me unable to walk and then feeling like I got into a car accident). And as of the last week my hands and feet no longer go numb. Healing is not linear, but I’m finally able to knit again and hopefully I can get to watching your videos now! Thanks for sharing your story – while I’m so completely sorry you’ve had to go through this, it’s helped me to process my own recent pain journey. Stay strong, Liat!

  4. Liat, As you can see those who miss you are many, and of the many that miss you we also have neck and back problems. We know what you’re feeling and feel for you, so do not worry about us, we will still be here waiting for you, praying for you, and loving you.
    Love and humble prayers,
    your constant pupil.
    Pauline

  5. Oh, my dear! How so sorry to hear of all of your “trials”! My heart goes out to you with such love and compassion! I too, have like, almost fallen off the face of the earth, and am struggling with issues so I’ve put down my knitting… but am encouraged to continue on, now. I hope and pray your treatments will greatly improve your body and spirit and mind. No need to ever apologize or feel guilty.. please be kind and patient with yourself and don’t feel like you have a deadline to meet. We’re all here for you, my friend, in cyberspace, nevertheless just as real as being there! Peace to you!

  6. Jennie Gillihan

Dear one. I’ve really been missing you and am VERY worried about your neck. How is it doing now? You’ve been suffering for months with this. I can certainly sympathize AND empathize as I’ve struggled with neck/shoulder and lower back pain for years. It can be totally debilitating when it flairs. I’ve had you on my mind and wanted you to know you are in my prayers for a swift recovery and an abatement from your pain. We miss you, but PLEASE don’t feel guilty. Get yourself well and then come back. You won’t do any of us any good if you come back too soon. Be well, my friend, and keep us updated.

Gentle hugs from Jennie in Georgia

  7. Liat – I’m just exploring your website and just came upon your news about your neck. First i’m sorry that you/re so sorry – your videos are wonderful, best ever, and there is already a mine of information in them. So please don’t feel sorry to take time off to heal. Best thing you can do, for you and for us.

I hope your neck is healing, and I hope you are coming along with your new website at your own satisfying pace.

In the meantime, don’t be sorry, please.

  8. Carol Carpenter

You are an amazing person and have taught me so much so far. I feel like I know you and am sending well wishes for healing. You have certainly not let me down and I doubt you ever could. Be well.

  9. Dearest Liat,
Thinking of you this morning and wanted to touch base with you and how you are doing? I miss you and your wonderful classes! You are an amazing woman and you are in my prayers! Hugs, Suzanne Burke

  10. Dear Liat,
Thinking about you and wondering how your neck pain is coming along. My cervical neck fusion went wrong, my hands and arms are numb but in constant pain. But I still LOVE my knitting, and have learned so much from you. Do pray you are getting better.

  11. Hi Liat For some reason you have been in my thoughts and prayers these past few days. I pray that your neck is healing and you’ll be back here soon. I understand what you’re dealin with; I’ve been in a wheelchair since 1985 from polio and spinal stenosis in my neck and lower back. The pain is really hard to deal with but just hang in there it really will get better. Sometimes you just have to learn to live with it and focus on those things most important to you. Your in my prayers and hope that you are ok! We miss you bunches.

  12. Feel better soon. Miss you, but better you get well. We’ll just wait for you to be back to your “new” self.

  13. Let go of the guilt about not being perfect the more you stress the less healing can take place. Just know that all your readers are sending postive thought to you in this time of healing . Pateintly waiting for you to return. I know when I’m at the computor for long time and knit my neck and shoulders hurt to. So take gentle care of yourself. Many healing Blessings to you.

  14. Sending you lots of encouragement and energy to heal!
You have been there and you have helpped lot of people both with knitting and your wonderful avatar smile. I do wish there was something that I could invent to help you get better instantly, but unfortunatly I am not a wizard. However I am sending lots and lots of get well wishes across the Atlantic. Best Swedish and Kajsa Wishes for you!

  15. I’m so sorry to learn you’re in pain. And even more sorry to learn you’re stressing over us. You’ve given us so much, if you took a break just because you felt like larking about, it would be fine. Take the time to take care of yourself, without guilt!

Meanwhile, hoping a knitting technique video would be more fun for you than a get well card … I stumbled on this Fair Isle technique today and thought of you right away because it does look so easy (and also, frankly, I was wishing you’d done the video – this one is way to fast to follow). http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=CZ6bHdcTocQ

  16. Dear Liat…your positive nature is so powerful in your videos! I think you must give it all away and not save much for yourself….please take time to regain your center, heal your body, mind, and soul. All of your students and fans will patiently await your return. We all need to work through weaknesses from time to time, and as I can see from your many supportive viewers, no one is “an island”! We all care…

  17. Dear Liat,

I hope you are starting to get some relief. Chronic pain is so difficult to deal with. And it’s hard for others to understand it too. Your pain may be the result of how you use your body (posture, repetitive motions, etc.). Perhaps a sports specialist could help you understand what to avoid. In any event, not to worry – your fans love you and wish you well. Take the time you need to recover. We will still be here.

    Maggie Hubbard

  18. My Husband found your website for me about 2 weeks ago, & I’ve yet to go through all the videos, but so far it’s already helped me a ton on my knitting! (I’ve only been able to knit scarves so far, & I couldn’t read patterns to save my life! lol). You are a wonderful teacher, & I really look forward to looking through all of your videos=)

I hope you feel better soon. I’ve had issues with my neck & upper back for a few years. Mine got so bad, I couldn’t turn my head left at all for about 3 years. Massage, & upper cervical chiropractic (not regular chiropractic; tried that too & didn’t help me. Specific/upper cervical chiropractic you kneel on the floor with your head on a bench, & the chiropractor adjusts you like that. I could turn my head again after the first adjustment!) really helped me. If you are open to it, I can also send you some long distance Reiki to many help (just let me know!). Lots of love & well wishes to you!

  19. Liat – are you really apologizing to us because you don’t feel well? How many of us have you helped to be better, to achieve success in knitting so we can be distracted from our own problems, to successfully make beautiful items and be proud of ourselves, to master an art that we were really feeling passionate about but not able to master the skills?

You get better, be nice to yourself, as nice as you’ve been to us, and do all of this guilt free! We’ll still be here when you’re ready to come back. We all love you!

  20. Liat, please take care of yourself first. We will all be here cheering you on. I hope you feel better very soon. Hiho

  21. Don’t worry about us, Liat. You worry about you and getting better. In fact, do the old “Don’t worry!” jig (find the song) and just get better. Take it day by day. Focus on you. The rest of us will be here. We’re all wanting you to be out of pain.

I know how pain can just take all your energy away. That’s why day by day works for me. Sometimes it’s worse and other days, so much better. I’m wishing better days for you.

Gentle hugs and a big injection of “Get Well-itis”

    Sue

  22. Dear Liat,
I can’t remember If I wrote to you or not, If I haven’t I apologize !!! I’ve been so busy with so much going on :( Things are starting to get better. I like to ask how are you doing? Are you feeling better??!!! I hope you can get back to video tutorials I learn best by watching and working with you !!! You do very well with way you teach I have very little experience & watching you makes It so much easier!!! Please get well soon!!!
I’m looking forward to seeing you again :D Smiles

    Sincerely Donna

  23. Liat, please take care of yourself. We will all be right here waiting for you when you are feeling better. Your healing is the most important thing to all of us. I thank you for letting us know what has been going on with you. I know you are excited about your website, but please don’t let it or us stress you out anymore. You need to relax, and take care of yourself. Get the professional help you need, and I pray you heal quickly. We will continue our knitting as we await your return. We love you.
    Rae (Oftenknitting Ravelry name)

  24. You’ve been going through quite a lot! Distressing in the extreme, I’m sure. (Been there! Not fun!) If your neck issue is not on the way to being resolved for you soon, it might be worth checking out Peggy Brill. She’s a reknown physical therapist in Manhattan, who’s long been the darling of orthopedic surgeons in NY (and has treated some of them personally for their persistent physical problems), as well as having worked with professional sports teams, and been flown around the world to treat some royal and elite patrons of other nations, too. She has 2 clinics (one in NYC) and has published 2 books that can be found on Amazon, if you’d like more information about her.
She came to physical therapy after having opted as a youngster for an Eastern alternative to traditional Western medicine to resolve a thyroid problem, rather than opting for a proposed surgical solution, and had studied an Eastern tradition prior to receiving her formal PT education and training, but respects traditional Western medicine, also. And, from all indications, Western medical professionals and doctors would seem to have a high regard for her, too.
You seem to travel some, so thought I’d mention her name, in case any of your travels should take you to New York. I live in MA and have not been a patient of hers, but her 2 books have been most helpful to me in alleviating some leftover and persistent difficulties suffered a couple of decades ago when a tractor-trailer rear-ended my little Toyota Corolla when I’d been waiting for a red light to change, propelling me into cross-traffic. (A big Chevy had done the same thing just a few years earlier, catapulting my prior Corolla into the several cars ahead of me on that occasion, which were also stopped at that particular red light, so the second collision had compounded the earlier injuries.) Orthopedic medical care resolved most of the problems, but the brilliance of Brill’s books helped me to resolve all the persistently residual issues–which had become chronic and exhausting, but are now just a memory, thanks to Peggy Brill.
I do, however, hope you are well on your way to recovery by the time you happen to read this, and no longer in need of exploring resolutions for you neck problem! I know from experience what a misery that kind of thing can be.

    Kathy

  25. Hi, Liat:

It is time to put yourself first, so please take the time to heal and relax. Please know that you are appreciated and respected for your creativity and attention to detail. There is no rush and the most important thing right now is your health. I wish you a full recovery. Best wishes and love, Linda

  26. So sorry you are having so much pain and hope you can get some relief soon. We miss you but, above all, don’t push yourself and just take it easy. Get well soon!

  27. I just read this, and pray you will be feeling better soon. You are an amazing teacher and are loved. Please do what you have to do to get well, and you will be back doing what you love soon sharing your passion with us all. God bless, keep and lead you as you seek wisdom and healing. Their are some things we just can’t control we can only do so much, and leave the rest in God’s hands. Hugs, Sue

  28. I just read this (school and budget problems at my local community college have kept me far too busy) and I just want to tell you that the most important thing right now is you, and your health. Take care of you, find out what’s going on with your neck, and the best way to heal it. Come back to us when you can, and don’t worry about the knitting stuff. There is nothing to apologize for, Liat.

I will be thinking of you and hoping that you have better news for us very soon. Everytime I pick up my needles (which is several times a day, as I’m trying to make progress on a Cerus Scarf made out of sock yarn which is taking forever), I will send lots of prayers and positive thoughts your way. Be well, and please keep us posted when you can.

  29. So sorry to hear you are having neck pain. Take care of yourself first and don’t worry about your loyal readers. We’ll be here waiting for your return. My thoughts are with you.

  30. Hello Liat! I am so sorry to hear of your back pain and the challenges that has brought into your life. I posted a reply incorrectly about one week ago so it was buried in so many of your well wishes on Jan 23rd. I was reading through some of your wishes for healing and blessings just now. I see that Rich wrote to you; he has been wonderfully helpful to me as well as so many other knitters on Rav…so please do take time for yourself. If you didn’t see the info I sent you on NSA please consider it as the results are so amazing. I believe in conjunction with your current therapies it could wonderful. Here is an excerpt from my original email:
Introduction to Network Spinal Analysis (NSA)
Your body has many parts and systems working all at once to help you function as a whole and amplify your ability to live.
Through your nervous system you perceive the world , adapt to stress, coordinate all body parts and functions, express emotion, and create your conscious reality.
Network Spinal Analysis (NSA evolved from the chiropractic profession and has become one of the most sought after methods of healing and transformation. NSA incorporates a whole body approach to healing. It was developed in 1985 by a Colorado based chiropractor, Dr. Donald Epstein, D.C.
This treatment is awesome, involoves only gentle pressure point work and has worked for so many of my friends that I have referred to try it. My Canadian chiropractor goes to Denver about 2 X per year to further his already well developed skills! Try it out, as a nurse I would not recommend it if I didn’t totally believe in it! Love, healing, and blessings to you, Laura

  31. Liat,
Please have the MRI done. That is the best way (I think) to find out what is wrong with your neck. Hopefully it will be something minor. Don’t worry about us. We will still be here when you come back. My thoughts and prayers are with you for a speedy recovery!!!!!!

  32. Dear Liat please just relax and take care of yourself. We all understand and know that when your better you’ll be back. But in the meantime take care of yourself first and do what the healers tell you to do. We are sending you good positive and healing energy.

  33. Liat just take care of yourself. We are all with you and we are all having you in our prayers. Big gentle hugs. Toma tu tiempo y concéntrate en tu salud. Es lo más importante.

  34. Don’t apologize for being sick or hurt. You are loved and if they can’t be patient, they don’t really love you. Getting well is more important than posting for taping, so, please just get well.

  35. Liat,
I miss you and can’t wait for you to get better, but remember, YOUR HEALTH COMES FIRST. Take care girl, I am sending good vibes and prayers your way.

  36. Sounds to me like you work really hard, have a wonderful joy and responsibility about your work, and I think that doing things like getting an MRI is gathering data to know what direction to take your healing journey. I’m glad to hear you have support around you, it will help you with the courage to go through this wherever it takes you. Love and light to you! Laurie

  37. Remember that you have to take care of yourself before you take care of us! And I can most certainly sympathize since I have multiple injuries myself. Stay strong and get well. We’ll all wait for you!

  38. Take care of yourself. Love the videos, but as far as I’m concerned, there are still many we already have from you that I haven’t had time to use. I’m knitting as fast as I can, and so much I still want to do.

You’re videos are great–I dare say the best on the web. Made three pair of socks and one in process. I would never have had the nerve. Love the whole thing, and you have taken my knitting to a new level.

Come back only when you are well–that way we will have you at your best!

    Thanks, Connie

  39. Just to let u know, it will get better! I have suffered from a similar problem for quite a while, just keep working on getting better. Doctors do not know everything!

  40. Liat!
So sorry you’ve been in pain. Know that I’m covering you in prayers for a complete recovery. Your therapy pic reminds me of moxa treatments. Either way, your in good hands and loved by sooo many of us knitting superstar sisters as we wait patiently. So good grief~no worries girlfriend! And as always, will shout for joy, as you send more nuggets to add to our treasure box of knitting know how’s!
    Blessings,
    MJ’s

  41. I’ve really got to start paying more attention to my email — totally missed this & was trying to figure out what they were talking about on the forum!

Do not, repeat, DO NOT worry about the Ravelry forum. The 3 Musketeers/moderators have been handling things so far. Take care of yourself — you’re more important to the people who know and love you than any spiffy website!

I’ll keep this short like you should do with your time on the computer. You know we love you and want to see you well. You’ve been there for me through some tough times. Let us be there for you. Between Rebecca, Sharon & me we’ll be happy to do whatever we can for you.

    Love you (((HUGS)))
    Rich

  42. Oh sweetie. If the plane is going down and the oxygen masks drop you always put yours on first before you can help anyone else. That’s what you’re doing right now. You’re taking care of yourself first. I know how devastating chronic pain is. You are in my prayers that you find the right people and the right treatments to get yourself feeling healthy again. You have been such an inspiration to me and you’ve improved my knitting tremendously. Please know that we will all be waiting here for you when you are feeling better. (((hugs)))

  43. sorry to hear this…misery must love company! I fell and broke my r shoulder 7th jan. here is hopes – prayers we both get better FAST! can simple knit, only online to weed out mail & ask friends not to send mail til further notice. u take care of you first.. faithful followers will wait.

  44. Thank you so much for the update….please know that we love you and all you do for us and how much you care about each and every person that follows you. Sometimes life just throws us a curve ball when we least expect it. Things happen for a reason, even though we usually can’t figure that one out! But may God bless you and watch over you each and every day. You will be in our hearts and prayers. And when the time is right you will be back, better than ever. Please don’t worry about disappointing one single person, that just won’t happen. We want you to spend the well deserved time you need to get better….

  45. Thanks for the way you use your very good teaching skills to help folks enjoy knitting. May your pain evaporate — sooner rather than later — and don’t worry about your fans. We’ll still be around when you’re better and when your website is where you want it to be. That computer-related reorganizing and restructuring must be a headache (unless you enjoy that sort of thing); not the easiest of tasks when you’re hurting. Pace yourself, be kind to yourself, and try to find something that makes you belly-laugh (or at least giggle) every day. Not only do we appreciate you, but you are beloved by the King of the universe: hope you don’t mind my saying so.

  46. Hi Liat,

Thank you so very much for your update! I am so sorry to hear of your neck problem and the challenges you have been facing. Please continue to focus on your health and well-being, knowing that we will all be here when you return.

Sending love and (((HUGGS))) and best wishes for healing and a speedy recovery!

  47. Wow, after reading your mea culpa, I thought i’d be nice & send you a ‘get well soon’, but I see I’m something like the 5,000,000th person to do so. I hope all the love from your appreciative fans encourages you and speeds your recovery!

  48. Liat,
Please be kind to yourself and take all the time you need to heal. Know that the videos and posts you already have on the web are enough. Your friends and followers will be able to use your current videos and posts until you are well enough to do more.

Right now, just take the time you need for yourself. It’s hard to be patient with yourself when you are injured but for whatever reason the “universe” is telling you to slow down.
It will all work out in time. Know that you will get your updated website up and running. It just may not be as soon as you had planned. I’m sure your fans and followers (like me) just want you to get better. :)
    Best wishes,
    Ellen

  49. Liat,
You need to take care of yourself and stop feeling guilty and sorry!!! What you have previously given is more than enough! Now time to pay attention to what your body is telling you. I used to say, well still apparently, “what the mind doesn’t get, the body will drive home!” Do take care and know that you will know when you can return to your work.

  50. I am so sorry to hear of your neck problem. You need to take care of yourself first and foremost. I know all about chronic pain. Please keep up a positive attitude, throughout, that is important. I am sending prayers your way, i hope you find the problem and recover successfully. We will all be here when you return. I think all these responses let you know how much you are loved and appreciated. Keep that feeling in your heart while you are away. We miss you, but understand totally and will be waiting patiently for your return.

  51. Hi It sounds like you might have a pinched nerve…I’ve had sciatica in my leg/back before and they have similar symptoms. My messed up areas are head, back as well as neck issues from studying music (flute) at university. Physio helped in all areas with some therapists being better than others. So my suggestion to you is to try different therapies/therapists until you find the right combo. Personally Water therapy with the traction table(NOT traction with a human) has been the best combo of all time.

The number 1 thing to remember is that healing can take up to 18months so don’t give up. It will happen eventually and you will have bumps and dips in the recovery road along the way.

Good Luck! We’ll be routing for you.

  52. Dear Lian,
You must be reassured by the response to your distress. Like most of your correspondents I have greatly benefited from your gifted teaching methods and encouragement. I think it is wonderful considering that we have never met. If I could just make you a little bit better I would do so. Relax we will be here when you are well . It will give us time to practice making a few more socks before you take us on another new journey of knitting knowledge. Nobody forgets a good teacher .
    Love and best wishes Linda

  53. No worries! Just do what you need to do to take care of yourself. Thank you for taking the time to touch base with us so we can put our energies into your healing and not wondering if all was well.

  54. Liat,

Ditto… to each and every reply. I will put you on the Self Realization Fellowship (SRF)
    World Wide Prayer List
    The very best.

    Blessings and all good,
    Rita

  60. Dear Liat, even if you never wrote ANOTHER WORD, I would always and forever believe in you for all the awesome gifts you have already bestowed. I wish for you to take all the time you want and need to concentrate on your well-being and set aside any fret that you had thought you were ‘letting down’ your faithful readers. Even this post that you just wrote is itself a real testament to how much you care (and I hope you did okay to write it and that it did not create strain for you). The love we have for you is permanent and unceasing and I hope your healing can be built on the foundation of knowing that we will always be here whenever you return, to whatever extent, while you are taking the crucial time you need for yourself. Love, Andrea

  61. Liat,
Have you tried some visualizations while you are attempting different therapies? Imagine knitting yourself a big sack of any color to your liking, and fill it with all your worries. See what it feels like, the burden, then imagine you letting it go, you no longer have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. The universe supports you. All is well. Sending you positive thoughts, love & light. Marisa

  62. Liat,
Just heal yourself. Do not worry about us, we will all still be here when you get better. Many people are sending healing thoughts and prayers your way. Go easy on yourself. Keep us updated on your recovery, we will keep you in our hearts.

  63. Hey Liat, I hope that you feel better soon, please take care of yourself and don’t be worrying about all the other stuff. “Your health is your wealth” they say, so concentrate on yours and and stop worrying about letting anyone down. You are an inspiration to me, and, from what I have read here, millions of other people too. Your videos are all amazing and so informative, from a beginners point of view they have been a Godsend!
There are never enough hours in the day to do all the things we want, but some good friends gave me some Power Thought Cards today from the shop at the Hill of Tara in Ireland (thats where I am from) and todays one reads “I trust the process of life…. there is a rhythm and flow to life, and I am part of it. Life supports me and brings to me only good and positive experiences. I trust the process of life to bring me to my highest good”. So there! Hope that cheers you up a bit and brings you a bit of positivity for today. Take it easy girl, and you know what they say ….. if you’re getting it easy …. take it twice!! (Sorry about the Oirish humour).
Loads and loads of love to you and yours from a cold, damp misty hill in Ireland.
    Get Well Soon. XX

  64. You have NOT disappointed nor let anyone down! You take care of you. You can’t be good for us if you are not good to yourself. Sending the best and most positive wishes and thoughts your way for a speedy recover. Hopefully the love from your students will help you along the way. ((HUGS))

  65. I am so sorry that you have been going through such extraordinary pain. I have been living with pain in varied locations for the past 32 years. I wish you success in your healing process and hope that you will never have to go through this time again.

  66. Anything that is good, is worth waiting for. You are extremely good!! So we will wait for as long as it takes for you to regain your health & strength!! Most important is that you take care of yourself, reduce your stress load & everything else will take care of itself. Prayers & hugs headed your way.

  67. Dear Liat,
You have given us all here so much – teaching us to be fearless knitters. Thank you so very much. It can be hard to be fearless when it comes to one’s own health, but take courage from the love shown here in all these messages. Allow yourself permission to to step back from what you see as your obligations to your students, and tackle your physical condition at the pace your body tells you. No need for guilt. Focus on your health please, and know that your friends, – for that is how we all see ourselves, I’m sure – appreciate all you have done for us, and will be eager to share with you again, when you are ready to return. Let your lovely sister look after you in the meantime.
    Hugs to you both,
    Louise

  68. Liat, you are truly loved and appreciated for all you have done for so many of us. Please take all the time you need to heal yourself. All the amazing resources you have given us will carry us through until your health and energy are restored. You give so much, and you need time to be replenished – take that time, and please don’t ever feel guilty for taking care of yourself. Hugs and warm wishes for your healing journey!

  69. Hi Liat,
After seeing all of the comments I realize you may never get to mine. If you do I hope you realize that taking care of yourself is so much more important than anything. Some advice from an old lady with bone problems, take care of problems while you are young, it will prevent much more pain later. I did miss your emails along with the rest of your many fans. Do not get stressed about us, we would rather you take care and heal to knit another day. Take care, Ann

  70. Liat, Never apologize for taking care of yourself. You MUST take care of yourself before you can do anything for another. None of us would want you so stressed that it affects your health and happiness. We are a patient lot and will be waiting for your return when YOU are ready. Appreciate all you have done for us and the great lessons given. Prayers going up for you and Wishing a full recovery for you. Hugs!!

  71. Liat, your health is the most important issue right now. All of the website changes can wait – we will be here eagerly waiting when the time is right. Anyone that doesn’t understand that can maybe find another knitting website – they will be sorely disappointed though!! You focus on you – and feel the many wonderful thoughts and prayers coming your way. No worries – GET WELL!

  72. “…All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well”
    Julian of Norwich
Hope you are able to receive all the healing energy that is being sent your way. Am looking forward to seeing and hearing and seeing the results of your efforts, but take care of yourself first. Your loyal fans will wait while you take care of yourself.

  73. Warm thoughts & prayers sent your way. I love the work you have done & rave about it to anyone who will listen. Look at all the love you have surrounding you! There were over 400 comments before mine, & I just got the email! Wow! To be so loved….

  74. Hi Liat,
So sorry you are hurting. Please take care of yourself FIRST and the rest will fall into place. I really enjoy all the knowledge you share with us. You are in my prayers.

  75. List
Know your adoring followers are praying and sending fantastic hugs all wrapped in luscious fiber to comfort and protect you during your recovery. We await your near perfection advice and videos….all in due time! Love is
Surrounding you on all sides !! Be at peace!

  76. Dear Liat,
No need to apologize . It is something women do all too often. Just get better , we all have gone thru various ailments and come out stronger. There was a time I had carpal
tunnel so bad I could hardly hold a pencil, after acupuncture sessions I now can hold needles in my hands . Keep up with the cupping until you have taken care of your back.
Thank you for all the enjoyment you have given to us. Get well soon, but don’t rush it.

  77. Hi Liat! I’m sorry to hear about your neck pain. I suffer from chronic muscle spasms, so can empathize with you. I also have sciatic pain and found some exercises and instructions that resolved it very, very quickly. An Australian fellow, Robin McKenzie, developed simple exercises to resolve neck and back pain. He has written a book devoted to the neck, “Treat Your Own Neck”. He’s well regarded in his field, which I hope puts you at ease. Here’s his web page: http://www.mckenziemdt.org/robin.cfm

His book can be purchased through Amazon (for only $10): http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0987650416?ie=UTF8&force-full-site=1&ref_=aw_bottom_links

I have no financial or other interest in any of the products. I’m sending you this info sincerely hoping that it will help resolve your neck pain. I was so amazed that a few simple exercises in just a couple of weeks resolved my sciatic pain (For several months I had not been able to sit without excruciating pain. I was often in tears, and was even contemplating getting a stand-up desk!) Please, at least look at the book. Maybe your local library can get it for you. I’ll be thinking of you. All my best, Sheila

  78. I hope you get well soon, I miss your emails; BUT I can wait for as long as it takes before the next one, so don’t stress about being away from the PC.
I strongly urge you to find a Rolfing Practitioner in your area. You will be amazed by what Rolfing can do for you.

    Kath.

  79. Liat – Guilt is the “gift” that keeps on giving – and I agree with the others who have said guilt is probably giving YOU back and neck pain. Your work is worth waiting for so I will wait patiently and not feel disappointed at all. I’m just happy to hear you are still on this earth and eager to help the less talented folk like me to find great pleasure in knitting. Sending distance Reiki to you!

  80. Dear Liat, please get well that is the most important thing at this time, your health is so important. We will all be waiting when you get back stronger than ever. May God bless you and speed your healing.. speedy recovery….Connie

  81. Thank you for letting us know. Take your time & don’t stress about it – it will just make your pain worse. When everything is all better, send an e-mail & we will love the new site. Will pray for you.

  82. Your health is first and foremost…do take the time to get well and create your website. We will wait for you. In the meantime I am reviewing what I have from your online knitting lessons and continue to knit using your toe up magic loop pattern. Loved the invisible bind off lesson, it wasn’t without it’s challenges but I got it. Get well and be happy.

  83. Ditto on everything everybody has been saying. Hope you start feeling better day by day! Thanks for teaching me the magic cast on! Love you, Liat!

  84. #1. You take care of you. We can not help others when we are ok. We will still be here to support you when you are back up and running. I know what back and neck pain is all about, I have those problems too.

  85. We’re all here hoping you feel better soon. Healing yourself is the most important thing. While you’re missed, we’ll all be here when you’re well and strong again! Take good care of you.

  86. Liat,
We are all here, waiting for you to get better.
Having nerve issues with my neck and shoulders, I can empathize with you on the pain and discomfort it causes. I’ve had the MRI, and all it showed was a slight narrowing of the tunnels where the nerves exit/enter the skull. Wow! all that pain for that!?!
I hope that your neck and shoulders will begin feeling better soon.
The site can wait, we can wait, we’re not children :)
Take care of yourself first, the rest will be taken care of after.
    Angel

  87. Liat:

The most important thing to do right now is look after yourself! The rest can wait. We will all be here when you are ready to return. Hugs and prayers to you.

  88. Hello Liat,

You just get well and stop worrying. I’m sure all of your fans understand and wish you well. We miss you and look forward to the new format, but are not disappointed. Only grateful.

  89. Liat, I am so sorry that you are suffering so much. You should not feel sorry for keeping your followers in the dark. Your first priority has to be your health. Please do whatever is necessary to heal your body. When you are feeling good, I’m sure your website work will flow much faster. We all look forward to what you will accomplish. My prayers are sent your way for fast healing and removal of any guilt you feel. Take care of yourself.

  90. SO sorry to learn of your physical troubles. Know that you’ve been missed and that we’re praying for your restoration and return. Nothing is more important than your well-being. The website will come along once you’re better. Knitters are patient and understanding.

  91. Good things are worth waiting for and you have good times ahead! Take care, release the worries, and we look forward to hearing from you soon. Be well, Liat.

  92. Hi Liat

    (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

  93. please just worry about yourself. Go see a chiropractor, then immediately get a good massage. That’s what I did and it helped tremendously. Good luck, hope you feel better soon!
    Susie

  94. Hi Liat,
You have been missed but now you need to heal, relax, rest, and this too shall pass.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

  95. Dear Guru Liat,
I’m so sorry your in pain, remember stress is part of it so TRY to relax. Let your talented sister take care of you. I’m reviewing and practicing your old videos and there is plenty to do until your new and improved site comes up. Take care you

  96. So sorry you are feeling unwell but it looks like you made great progress despite your pain. Now that you’ve updated everyone you should take it easy and resolve your health issues before you worry about us. We’ll keep checking back every so often and will be delighted when you are finally ready to unveil the new site.

  97. I hope you feel better soon! Relax and take care of yourself. Maybe you should get an MRI to make sure there are not underlying problems. Thank you for all you do whenever you do it!

  98. Bless your heart. I was thinking of how loving, giving and thoughtful you are. Take care of yourself and be free from all guilt. You have so many people who appreciate you for who you are and we’ll be here for you through thick and thin. I’m keeping you in my thoughts. <3 Thank you for all you do. You are an amazing woman. <3

  99. Just had to add my voice to all the others–take care of yourself first and foremost.

Goodness knows we all have probably too many unfinished projects waiting for us to finish them anyway!

Thanks again for everything you do–wouldn’t be knitting without you.

  100. Life hands us all kinds of challenges and we must deal with them. Sometimes the best way is to talk about it. I’m learning that myself as I was diagnosed with MS and can’t work full time anymore. Hope you feel better soon .
    Leena

  101. I truly enjoy everything you do for all of us, especially the beginner, that would be me, much easier for me to learn by seeing. Since I live in constant pain myself I have learned to be very patient with myself. I want you to please take the time to take care of you. We will all be here waiting. You are in my prayers. Blessings Peggy

  102. Oh my precious Liat!!
We all love you SO MUCH!! I talk you up ALL THE TIME at my knitting group in far western CO, and I ALWAYS call you “My Knitting Angel”. I’m so sorry you’ve been in so much pain! You just take care of you! We’ll all be okay. We’ll miss you for as long as you need to be away but we care far much more for your well being!!

All my prayers are with you!!

    Gigi

  103. Dear Liat:
I am so saddened to learn all that has been happening to you and want you to know I have added you to my prayer circle.
Although I am unable to view videos on my computer, I still enjoy and use your many write-outs of instructions and patterns.
I am a faithful follower of your website/bloigand miss you.
With all the medical and massage help and prayers that have been expressed for you, I have no doubt that you will be greatly recovered soon.

  104. My heart was aching as I read your note. I have had back and neck surgery and I so felt your pain as I was reading. We are all fine. We miss you terribly but your first responsibility is to yourself. Take your time to heal completely. We will be here for you when you return.
Your gift to me has been your sock videos. They have given me the confidence and the ability to knit socks without anxiety and I will forever be grateful to you for that.

  105. Good to hear from you, I’ve been wondering what was going on. Be patient with the healing process! I’ll be praying for you.

  106. Liat, You need to concentrate on healing yourself. We will still be here anxiously awaiting to hear about your new site. God is good and complete healing will happen. Remember you’re only human :)

  107. Hopefully you know we only want you to rest and heal. Take care of yourself and don’t rush your recovery. Be gentle with yourself and seek wellness. The rest will fall into place.

  108. You are in my thoughts and prayers. You feel like a friend, although I’ve never met you in person. Friends understand that LIFE gets in the way at times, and we only want the best for you. Be kind to yourself.

  109. Wow, you see all these comments Liat, we are all here for you and we will all be here for when you are back in the saddle again. Look after yourself and seek out the right help. Spines are nothing to mess around with. Chronic pain is nothing to mess with either, so many of us here know that one only too well.
take good care and be good to yourself, don’t worry about us! When you do feel good, just start from that day forward, don’t worry about yesterday!!! or worry about tomorrow, you have “now” and only “now”.
    many hugs
p.s. please ask your sister to please give us an update on your condition if you can not.

  110. Your post made me cry – and made me remember back to 2010 when I spent a year in just horrible pain which was later diagnosed as rheumatoid arthritis….it really could have been done so much earlier but the point is that everything was harder that year. I have to echo everyone else – take care of yourself, we’re pulling for you, and we’ll be here when you get back. Soon, we hope, for your sake.

  111. Dear Liat,
I’m sorry to hear of your spine problems. As an R.N. and a very longtime back sufferer ( and also a spinal surgery patient), I would highly recommend that you seek diagnosis from a board certified neurologist. It’s so important to get the proper diagnosis-this problem could be minor-or major. Usually an M.R.I. can easily pinpoint the problem. This is really too important to take risks with amateur therapy.
Feel better soon, and please keep us informed.

  112. I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. I’ve been there and know how painful it is. I hope you find the right doctor or physical therapist and are feeling better soon. A great physical therapist and traction did it for me.

  113. Good morning Liat,
Thank you for sharing some of your private life with us. Sorry to hear about your pain. From past experience I would advise to take baby steps and let your body heal. Usually it will let you know what you can or cannot do. We take our health for granted when we feel fine.
Love your posts but you need to get healthy before your go on to entertain your fans.
    Good Luck
    ho

  114. I hope you feel better quickly, and you shouldn’t worry about knitting and about your audience. We’ll be here waiting for you when you return. Until then, take care of yourself and don’t fret about the rest. Hugs, but gentle ones, so as not to torque your neck!

  115. Honey, I think you’re putting way too much pressure on yourself. You are doing a great thing with your website and postings, but right now you need to take care of you. You will only be able to fully focus on work once you are well. I hope you have a speedy recovery and are feeling much better very soon. No need to pressure yourself, it will only make things worse. We will all be here when you’re feeling better.

  116. Much love and support from more sources than you can imagine. See if you can find a tiny space in all of this to enjoy the journey. Your a blessed being. Thank you for all you do. Now just BE for a while.

  117. Saundra McDowell

Your health and well being should always be your top priority. As they say on a plane: if the oxygen mask comes down, put it on yourself before you help your children. And, so it is for your website, because without you there is NO website. I am sending good vibes to you for your recovery. Don’t worry about all of your followers, we will wait patiently for your return. When I delete the many unwanted emails, I always save yours and am anxious to read each each time. So take care of yourself, Liat….your followers want you to be well and we can wait. Namesta…..Saundra

  118. You had me tearing up right along with you. :-( Please please please get better and take the time and energy to do so. We will all still be here.

  119. So sorry to hear about your upsets. I will keep you in my thoughts and send good healing wishes your way. Your real job is YOU. Looking forward to great news in the (near) future.

  120. Dearest Liat, the Father has given you such a gift, and we are the blessed recipients of it. As many have said above, you are too hard on yourself. You remind me a lot of my son. I remind him i need him to stay around!! Give the Lord this time to let Him restore you, body, soul and spirit. As a follower of Jesus Christ, who died to set people free, He teaches his children to rest. This recharges our being in every way. We focus our hearts on His goodness and love, reminding ourselves that we are ‘but dust’, and that HE is God. Man tries very hard to perform and please everyone, and it can become a huge noose. We are not meant to carry all those burdens, and we need wisdom from above. I want to encourage you to honor the Sabbath principle. God’s word teaches that by resting we acknowledge that everthing, including our very next breath, comes from Him, and that He is our strength and the giver of any grace we have. He loves you, Liat. I pray He will become very real to you and give you that peace that passes all understanding(Phil 4:4-7) hugs!

  121. I’m so sorry you are going through a rough time. Please take care of yourself. We’d be lost without your wonderful help and we’ll wait patiently for your return. Take care!!

  122. Just take care of you! Of course we miss you and always enjoy your posts but we’d like to have you around with us long term. The best way is for us to be patient and for you to rest and take it easy. Be good to yourself and get well soon

  123. I too have chronic pain in my back due to degenerative & herniated disks. Know this: you cannot tend to yourself properly while worrying about everyone else. This is the time to be selfish. I believe it is the desire to be perfect, for me, that has gotten me to this place. Take the time & do not devote your precious energy to anyone but you right now. Nip this in the bud! I’ve been struggling intensely for the last 3 1/2 years. The pain can grow roots. Relax. Let it all go. Best wishes.

  124. Liat-Your health is the most important thing. Take care of yourself and everything else will fall into place. You have nothing to apologise for. When you’re back, you’re back. Until then, we’ll all survive with all the tools you have for us now. Just take of yourself and let us know how you are doing now and then. Hope you feel better soon!!! Much love and hugs. Denise

  125. Liat,
I discovered your website recently and have been inspired to continue knitting without guilt–it’s a long story. I don’t think I can add anything more to my message of hope for your speedy recovery than has already been written so eloquently by so many of your friends and admirers. Keep your spirits up, heal yourself, and don’t worry about us so much. We’ll all be here when you come back healthy and re-energized.

  126. Liat, just get well and don’t worry about all of us out here in Web land. We will be fine until you are up and ready to continue your awesome work that we all enjoy so much. Take care and we love you! Lana

  127. My Dearest Liat~

First of all, my thoughts and good energy and prayers are WITH YOU. I, too, had a neck injury years ago. It seems like an eternity when you are in the midst of all your pain. It sounds like you are doing all you can to find a healing. The biggest obstacle I had was my own guilt about being a good mom to my babies at the time. Your worry is real, but remember: You NEED TO HEAL. Stop your worry. Your readers are concerned, but we are all sending you LOVE. Simple LOVE of healing your way. You are young, strong and determined. This will be a thing of the past in it’s time, but for now, you are the most important component in your healing. Your website will be what you want it to be — just maybe not now. We will be here…….We aren’t going anywhere………..you are our inspiration. And we can always watch the older videos or read your older blogs. We will be FINE till you come back healthier, more determined and ready to take on the world again. HOWEVER, first and foremost is your HEALING. Sending you LOVE, LIGHT and HEALING………….. And, oh yeah, a BIG HUG!!!! (Once a mom, always a mom!!!!) Say your positive mantras — do what it takes…………Stay sweet!

  128. Liat,

Just get better. Do what you need to do. Because, if you think about it, you cannot continue this way, right? You have to take the time needed to find the problem and fix it. Whether it turns out to be your neck, or whatever else it might be, it has to be fixed because you cannot go on this way. So stop trying to do something that has to wait. It (we) WILL wait, it (we) will still be here when you are stronger and able to do what you want to. So get better physically and emotionally, and then get back to doing what you want to do with the site. The site is less important than you being whole. Go get whole.

    Scarlett

  129. Lisa,

Hope you feel better soon. I am just getting back to knitting and was just doing the basics the first time around but have found your site and instructions to be right on so I thank you for the videos! Take care and hope to see you back on as soon as you are able!

  130. You just hurry and get well, we will just muddle through our knitting and wait for you to help us when you are up to it. Love your courses and of course, you.

  131. Oh you poor dear, nothing like extreme pain to sideline a person! I do hope you’re on the mend. Sending you a gentle heartfelt hug and well wishes for your full recovery.

  132. Dear Liat, take this from a Caregiver: take all the time you need to heal, we are not going away, and will be here when you are able! Take care of YOU!!! Xoxoxoxoxox

  133. Will keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery. Neck pain is something I have dealt with for years so I know what you are going through. I don’t think any of “your knitters” will be going anywhere. We all care about and are so thankful for your help that we have received from your videos. We will be here when you get well, so take care of yourself.

  134. I’m sorry you are unwell. You just take all the time you need. we will still be here, after all You are worth waiting for! I love you site .You are so helpful. I will keep you in my prayers.

  135. I’m sorry that you’ve not been well. I’m thinking of you and sending you positive vibes. Also keeping you in my prayers. I hope you are feeling better soon.

  136. Hey Liat, you just concentrate on “you” and don’t worry about the website or us. We’ll we right here waiting for you when you’re back on your feet and feeling fine!

  137. Liat-
    I love your videos!
Sounds like you have what I had a few months ago- a pinched nerve caused by disc bulging. Hurts to even type, doesn’t it?
My answer was western medicine: MRI, PT, and IV steroids. I’m now pain free.
(E-mail me if you’d like to hear my story- I don’t want to risk boring everyone else!)
Take all the time you need to get better.
    Anne L.

  138. First, be kind to yourself, especially since you are so wonderful to all of us. Second, be kind to your spine. I own a day care and have experienced problems similar to yours after lifting children all day. Use a lumbar pillow when you sit and when you sleep stay on your back and use only a neck pillow and a pillow under your knees. And get well soon. Even if we don’t let you know how much your tutoring and advice mean to us, I wouldn’t be knitting two toe up socks on one circular without your videos. And this is after many tries using other resources. I wish you the best and thank you for everything.

  139. Please concentrate on getting rid of pain …. the rest is just ‘stuff’. Keeping you in my prayers, Liat. Hope you are 100% very soon. Hugs, Gayle

  140. Liat- please take the time you need to recover and get well!! As much as I look for new videos/updates, I realize you can’t be our knitting sage if you are in pain/agony. Will be saying prayers that you get better soon.

  141. I am so sorry to hear of your neck injury. I can relate to it very well. I injured my neck back in 1978 and deal with the pain of it daily. I have missed your posts and wondered what had happened. Please take care of yourself and know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. Looking forward to your return to us.. Luv and hugs..

  142. How can someone who gives so much to we knitters apologize to US for letting us down? Please take care of yourself – we’ll be here when you are well. I hope that is soon.

  143. Wow Liat my heart is broken for you…thanks for letting us know your situation. I too suffer from neck problems (arthritis) but it gets worse with stress. When I’m relaxed I’m ok…but with 2 teens and teen grandbabies I’m a worry wart. Honey you just take your time healing…try to think possitive and be around positive people as much as you can. I will say prayers for your full recovery. You are very special and have a wonderful God given talent…go forth. We love you and will stand by your side as you heal my friend. Take care.

  144. I am new to your site and it has already been so helpful, I am sorry to hear about your neck please take care of yourself, all of us knitters will be waiting for your healthy return. Prayers for a speedy recovery. Thanks for all that you do!

  145. Oh, my dear girl, please release any guilt and replace it with healing light. Thank you for sharing your situation, but I have not noticed any deficiencies in your website. Your videos have year
s worth of help. You are the gift, take care of yourself with loving kindness. You will be in my prayers.

  146. Liat;
I feel your pain..literally! Forty years ago I injured my neck; mild pain turned to severe pain, and loss of function…I could barely feed myself, let alone knit. I utilized both traditional and alternative medicine, and found a balance for me. Spinal surgery was the answer to my problem (fusion of C4/5) and I have never regretted this decision.
I was a registered nurse ( and a knitter) for over thirty years. I am now disabled from other issues, but I still have my knitting. While recovering from surgery in a wheelchair I found your web site. I love knitting socks, and have cranked out “top down” socks by the hundreds. My recovery sped by as the “old dog” learned new tricks….toe-up, Magic Loop socks. Your instructions are flawless, and fun; you are a natural teacher. Thank you!
You will get allot of loving advise, and here is mine! Listen to everyone but realize there are no “one-size-fits-all” quick fixes, love yourself, take it slow, accept help when you need it, loose the guilt, but don’t loose your sense of humor. Special love and prayers from Vermont.

  147. Liat,
Thank you for letting us know what is going on. Please, as others have mentioned, let go of the guilt and worry, take time to address your needs and heal. Have you tried acupuncture? If you can find a good acupuncturist, they can work wonders with back/neck pain and many other issues.

  148. Hi Liat,
Neck pain can be so difficult. Sounds like you are on the right track for healing – a massage therapist who specializes in myofascial release techniques gave me relief from herniated disc/pinched nerve pain. I am sure your sister can give you good advice and help with all of this. Best wishes for a full recovery – it takes time. We’ll all be happy to wait until you’re better. Relax for a few weeks and get well.

  149. Computer work is not good for neck problems. Raise your screen up where you are not looking down. Because all parts of the body are connected your lower back is connected to the neck get deep massage on your lower back. I see by your picture that you have swelling on your left side. Take care of your self and remember to breathe. When we are in pain our energy is scattered relax and breathe.

  150. Long time lurker in the shadows, here, enjoying videos and blog without comment, but this – !!!

M’dear, you are loved and well supported. Please remember to BREATHE! Then, DO NOT FEEL GUILTY! I think any number of us would be happy to help you out, with anything. Yes, you may ask! We’d be honored.

As I tell my own students (I teach English, not knitting, but this applies), COMMUNICATE! We can’t let you know how much support you have if you don’t communicate even just a little bit. My students have found there’s much less guilt and stress once they talk with someone – this does work.

Lots of good advice above – follow what works for you, but definitely more than one medical opinion and an MRI (unless, like my husband, you have a pacemaker and can’t have an MRI – but you’re too young for that).

As a mentor and friend of mine says, “sending lots of good energy your way”. We’re here for you.

  151. Hugs to you! Never feel you are letting us down when you are doing the best you can. That is all any of us can do. Feel the love coming from us to you.

  152. I have enjoyed your site for a while now and wondered what had happened. So sorry to hear you aren’t feeling well. Just remember prayer works wonders and many, many people are praying for your full recovery.

  153. Liat, Please, please, PLEASE get that MRI. Everything else is guesswork. And DO NOT feel guilty! You are obviously a wonderful person and we are all pulling for you.

  154. I pray you heal quickly! Focus on yourself first! I am sure all these changes are worth the wait, however long it may be.

  155. Kathy in Colorado

    Liat,
Please know that you do not have to apologize to us. We understand that you need to take care of yourself first, now YOU need to accept that. Letting go of that guilt can only help in the healing process. As an RN-CMT I am so happy that you have your sister to help you on the road to healing and that you are open to trying non-traditional therapies.

Be gentle on yourself; we will happily wait on a new website forever if it means that you get better. God bless.

  156. Liat – You are in my prayers. You need to put yourself and your health first. Take the time to heal and your friends and followers will be here when you are ready.

  157. Liat, I´m praying that you´ll be able to rest and pace yourself as you try to catch up. Please take your time to heal; it will only take longer if you push too hard and don´t get enough rest when you´re tired.
(I´m in Argentina and still hope to get to the yarn factory in Montevideo. I´ll surely let you know if I do.) Please take care!
    Blessings to you today!

  158. I have read several well wishers comments and you need to listen to them. Most of all listen to your body…it is crying out to you! It is difficult to have your strength zapped from you when all you want to do is carry on. (I am experienced in this area) Your body is telling you to make a change so step back and find a different / better way to go forward. Pretend this is not your challenge and then take your own advice.
We have all the tutorials to rely on for awhile till you get this solved. You are my first go to! P.S. Loving the new E-book idea!!!

  159. You have NO need to feel sorry about not writing your blog. We all care about you and your health comes first. Much as I love knitting and your website – I simply had to say that. Just concentrate on getting well and then the words will flow naturally.

  160. I am sorry that things have been so hard for you over the last couple of months. I hope that you get the medical care you need, so you can move on from this place of hurt and feel better. I am currently receiving Prolotherapy (had no idea what it was called though:), and as you know it hurts like hell, but I have had some small improvements which have make my life a little more livable after a couple of treatments. I hope you find that your pain diminishes as your body recovers from the procedure. Please also know that your followers/students will be here waiting for you when you are healthy and ready to return. You never need to apologize for taking care of yourself!

  161. So sorry to hear about your neck issues. I truly understand your pain as I have herniated disk from a car accident and know what feels like. As one who has spent countless hours in traction and PT . I find relief likes in applying a hydroculator that is like an ice pack with the gel inside wrapped In a pillow case to the neck when it acts up. Ice will definitely not hurt. In any event, I am a new knitter but have come along so quickly due to your wonderful videos. I feel so blessed I found you.
I wish you a speedy recovery and can’t wait to see your new website. Love you. Eileen

  162. It’s so good to know why you’ve been out of the loop, but I’m sad to know you have been suffering first physically and then emotionally. Dear Heart, life is too short to feel guilty. Please be as kind to yourself as you would to any of us who found themselves in your situation. Let yourself feel us holding you in our hearts. Relax. Let the knots untie themselves. We’re here with you and for you, and we’re not going away! We are enriched by your being. You take care of us by gently taking care of yourself. Hugs.

  163. I love your website and find it so helpful. I tell everyone about it and send the info so they can enjoy it also. But, right now your health is more important than anything. Concentrate and getting well, then you can concentrate on what you love to do and do so well. Thank you for sharing and letting us know what is going on with you.

  164. I am sorry to hear of your health problems, but add that you needn’t worry about me. I am rooting for your speedy recovery and send you my blessings. I hope you know that I miss KnitFreedom and your knitting enthusiasm. Take care and hope to see you in my in box soon – until then,

    Happy Knitting!!! Kathleen

  165. I’m a newbie at your wonderful site, and look forward to each new posting. Please, take care to heal all your ills so you can return to show us all those new and easier was to make beautiful knittings.

    Pat

  166. Please know that you are in my prayers. You have not let us down you have shared your gift with us and you continue do this through all the materials you have already shared. Be at peace, get well and thank you for sharing with us.
    Sr. Carole

  167. Wow, look at all the people who are cheering you on as you travel the path to recovery and good health! No guilt or regret from your side; you just take care of yourself and we’ll all be here when you’re ready to return!

  168. I have been missing your newsletters and wondering where you were. So sorry to hear you haven’t been well. Take the time to heal yourself, we’ll be here waiting and praying for your quick and complete recovery and looking forward to seeing your reconstruction efforts on this site.

    Jan

  169. Hi Liat, I’m so glad to hear from you, and so sorry you haven’t been well. I have missed you and all your wonderful knitting tips. Life’s pressures can be overwhelming sometimes, take time to get better and we will be here when you return.

    Take care of yourself. x

  170. Omg liat…how badly I feel for you. You are in that terrible pain and you are worried about us!
I’m happy u gave us an update…I was wondering what happened to you..
Take care of yourself and we will wait….and we won’t forget you.
    Susan

  171. Christine Lindsay

Liat, the most important thing is that you look after yourself and get well. Please don’t apologise for what is not your fault. We all look forward to hearing from you again when you are able to type without it hurting. Much love and bright blessings. Christine.

  172. Sweetheart, I completely understand your struggling with pain, stress from work, and guilt from a sense of responsibility. Been there, done that! I promise it will get better! You have helped so many people, I think you’ve earned the right to take some you time so please do and don’t worry about us. It could be a trapped nerve, or it could be as ‘simple’ as stress, it’s just very unfair that it has to be something that makes doing something you love difficult and painful. Just take all the time you need, anyone who puts pressure on you is heartless and please don’t put pressure on yourself. Good luck with the MRI, and feel better soon my lovely. **BIG HUGS** XXX

  173. So sorry to hear about your pain. I hope you recover quickly and can resume your blog as soon a possible. You are missed.

  174. Dear Liat,
I am very grateful for your extraordinary gift of teaching and ability to reach out to the multitude of knitters everywhere. I am a relatively new knitter and appreciate learning so much from you. Please take all the time necessary to take care of your health needs first. Remember the importance of loving and taking care of yourself first by resting, healing and not thinking of others at this time. Blessings and prayers are being sent for your return to good health. God Bless!
With Infinite Love, Light and Peace,
    Esther

  175. No more guilt feelings and take the pressure off your self – none of this helps you in the recovery process. Unfortunately these injuries usually take their time to heal ( speaking from lots of experience with neck and shoulder problems). So please take care of yourself and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

  176. Take care and focus on getting yourself well again. Sending prayers to you. Thanks for your wonderful knitting guidance I love it.

  177. Karina Koenig-Johnson

Hi Liat, I am just a hobby knitter, as I do other crafts as well, but your help has been gratefully received for the bits and bobs that I want to do. I knit collars and cuffs for the clothes I make (or recycle), and the odd scarf for a friend. So I don’t need anything from you. I just want you to know that you are in my prayers. I had tendonitis in my neck and it is a problem area (along with the rest), so I know it must be very frustrating for you right now. Please take the time to heal yourself properly, so you can continue living as you would like to. Don’t rush! Be well, Karina

  178. Dearest Liat! Please, please, please! Don’t let us make you feel guilty. Take your time, get better. We are all here for you, and we will all support you. If you were closer I would give you a hug (very carefully!) and try to help. Since I’m unfortunately far far away, I will imbue you with the wisdom of my people… ÞETTA REDDAST! XD

  179. Please take care, I will be praying for you. It can be so hard at times to get through each day when you are in pain. Even though I have suffered from back pain caused through an accident many years ago, I actually find the neck pain I have is harder to take. The neck pain is caused by osteoarthritis so it will be ‘hanging around’ for the rest of my life. I know how I feel with my pain, and for someone as young and talented as you is very sad. My thoughts and prayers will be with you make sure you just take whatever time you need to recover and do what you need to do. We will all still be here when you do return. Love Jenny xxxx

  180. dear liat… i’m so sorry that you’re in such pain–both physical and emotional–but the last thing you need right now is to be feeling GUILTY!!! just concentrate on taking care of this neck pain NOW, before it becomes chronic (like mine…), and don’t worry about anything else. as others have pointed out, we’ll all still be here after you get well, and we know you’ll come back better than ever, in all ways. so, just relax, take care of yourself, and let others take care of you, too.
all the best to you, get well soon, and thanks so much for all you do for us,
    andrea w.

  181. Liat, Be well. Be blessed! Your inspiration and support have given us wonder and discovery. You are one of the sweetest knitters I believe in! Take care of yourself. That is what is important now! You have been taking care of us, teaching us all with your knitting lessons and guidance. Be well. Be blessed!

  182. You do know that you c
an’t help others until you help yourself….. Focus on what is important…. your health. We’ll all still be here when you are up to snuff..

  183. The most important thing is to take care of yourself. Come back to us healthy and able to do what you do best. Many prayers for your complete recovery Liat.

  184. Dear Liat,

I’ve learnt so much from you. But more than a great teacher, you are an amazing person… so generous, so sweet.
Please take good care of yourself. All your followers are waiting for you.

  185. Everyone before me has pretty much said everything I would have said, so I won’t go through a repetition of it all… I just wanted to add my voice to the list of those that are wishing the best for you so you know just how many of us care about YOU!!

  186. Dearest Liat,
As it took me forever to scroll down through your well-wishers to write this; I saw hundreds of caring people, who all understand that there are times when we need to step back and care for ourselves, so in the future we can be there for others, as you have always been there for us! Although we have all missed you, we all understand. Those who do not are not human, or is that humane? Whatever. Every single person who has posted here have been touched by you in one way or another. You have taught, inspired and guided us all, and you do all this with care, humor and talent. There are no failures or mistakes, whether it is life or knitting, rather they are design elements in the fabric of life. do not let this get you down, your emotional well being effects the physical. Your glass is not half- empty, nor half-full… Holy shit! you have a glass!
My prayers will be with you until you are healed

  187. I hope these messages of love and support give you strength as you recover, Liat. I join them in wishing you a speedy recovery. I can’t wait to finish my second pair of socks, all thanks to your fantastic videos. I’ve learned so much from you. Thank you so much!
    Warmest wooly wishes. :)

  188. I don’ t know if this will help, but we forgive you. Now…forgive yourself, then you should be good to go. Life happens, dear one, we know.

  189. You’re in my thoughts and prayers, take care. We do miss you, however I don’t feel you have ‘let us down’ . Get well soon.

  190. Having dealt with ruptured cervical disk and the ensuing nerve pain and weakness down the arm myself, my prayers are for your healing. Although no one can see any visible evidence of your pain, there is no way to describe the pain to someone else. Take care of yourself.

  191. I have missed you, Liat because I love your website. But more importantly, look after your health and we know you will be back with us soon. You are well worth the wait!

  192. Thank you for sharing so much of yourself and your knitting knowledge. No need to apoligize just take care of yourself so you can be healthy and happy taking care of us.

  193. I see someone likes using Balsamiq! I assume that’s the wireframe software that you’re using. We recently started using it at work and we love it! Good luck on the redesign!!

  194. Oh, Liat! Isn’t it awful how we make ourselves feel guilty for trying to do good things? How could you possibly control every aspect of your health? You should do what you need to be well. You deserve the time you need to get well.

You are an amazing person! You have been more than generous with your time and teaching. I have learned so many wonderful things from your videos and I’ve passed on your name to every new knitter I meet.

Take your time. When you are ready, come back. You will be in my prayers.

  195. Dear lady, you take your time and become well; we will knit as we wait. You have just taught me to knit in the Continental style; the video was fantastic and even I was able to follow it with ease. After a couple of weeks practising this marvellous new technique (I made slippers for spouse and myself and hardly swore at all as my fingers learned the changed patterns), I have embarked on a cotton tee-shirt for myself in vibrant colours. I cannot believe how fast I am knitting and how exciting it is. You have rekindled my interest in the craft and I love you for it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

  196. Liat, I could not stop laughing when I saw you with those cups on your back…… I went back 60 years into my childhood when my mother to put those on my back when I had bronchitis! I am surrounding you with the healing white light of the universe for a prompt recovery. Blessings

  197. Liat, I am so sorry your are hurting.
Please know that we are praying for you. Your health is your number one priority so focus on yourself first then everything else.

  198. Wishing you back to a painless life! I’ve been there – massage, acupuncture, NSAIDS, etc. It does get better, and letting the guilt go will be a big step forward. Prayers and
    cloud” hugs.

  199. Liat,
You are the best knitting videographer I have seen. I will wait patiently for you to return in full health and happiness! You give me hope that I can get better at this craft I have come to love. I love your humor and your style.
SO, get well soon, leave stress behind, and I look forward to your return…WHENEVER.
    Namaste.

  200. Take care of yourself. You have a wonderful site and loyal followers who will be there when you are well enough to come back.

  201. YOU have been thru a lot ~ and I think the most important thing for us ” your little knitting followers” is to let you get well, and for you to concentrate on yourself for however long it may take… so we get you back healthy and back to teaching us what we love to learn !! KNITTING !! :0) Take Care and hope the treatments give you the relief you so badly need right now !

  202. At the risk of repeating what all have already said, please have guilt begone. I, myself, have so many WIPs that I can patiently await your healing for quite some time. Thank you for bringing copious amounts of energy and creativity to knitting, and sharing it generously. May God bless you with health and renewed energy soon, and in the meantime, peace and patience. May even this tough time bring blessing.

  203. The most important thing is your health! Concentrate on finding out what the problem is and how to heal yourself. We’re all praying for you and will be here for support. Keeping my needles crossed for good luck!

  204. Liat, your health and well being are the most important things. I am a retired RN who wholeheartedly believes in alternative therapies. I’m so glad you have your sister keeping a close eye on you and providing you with care. The neck is such a delicate structure. Please do have an MRI if things do not improve soon – it’s really the only noninvasive way to find out what’s going on. You will be in my thoughts.

  205. get well liat and feel better – i know what a neck injury feels like going thru some here too since a accident – you have taught me so much in knitting so you take care and come back when your healthly and strong . miss you and thingking of you :)

  206. My goodness. So very sorry to hear about what has been going on with your neck. Please, don’t feel guilty or like you are letting us down. Please take care of yourself. We will be here when you are ready to come back. Get well soon.
    Gwen

  207. Take care and get well soon! You and your awesome videos are what got me knitting. It is not just a hobby, it’s an obsession … you make knitting so fun to do :o)

  208. Liat, getting and feeling better should be your priority. You are an amazing teacher and I know you will be back when you are able. Miss you.

  209. You are amazing. I can’t thank you enough for all the wonderful things you have done. Taking care of yourself is the most important thing and don’t feel bad about having limitations. Do what you can when you can. My thoughts are with you.

  210. When I first came across you on youtube I knew I had found my new best friend. There you are at two o’clock in the morning or two o’clock in the afternoon just when I need you to show me How To. You gave me confidence and the courage to go ahead and try to knit on my own, with my own ideas.
Everyday you have shared your love of teaching knitting You have shown us all how to knit, how to fix our mistakes and how to enjoy what we do. When it is late at night when we are going through our own difficulties or just cannot wait to finish putting in that last stitch you are with us.
We salut you, we love you.

  211. Liat, I was beginning to wonder if you were more passionate about yoga than knitting and making videos. Now I understand and am so glad you shared with us about your neck injury. Pain can be so distracting. Overall you must be in marvelous shape because when I saw the yoga poses you showed, I called you the human pretzel. :) Take your time and get well without guilt or pressure, first and foremost. We send our good wishes and prayers your way knowing that all good things take time. You are missed and loved.

  212. Please get to a proper doctor. This sounds similar to my husbands symptoms when he slipped a vertebral disc in his neck. It will be pressing on your spinal cord if you are getting numbness. I know America doesn’t have free health care so I hope you can afford all you need, take care of yourself.

  213. I am sorry to hear about your injury, and you certainly have no need to apologize! I think the only one who is disappointed with you, is you. Thank you for all your hard work to build this amazing site, but it is most important for you to take care of yourself. Don’t worry about us, we’ll still be here. And I’ll be praying for your quick healing!

  214. Dear Liat ~
Just as you’ve been patient with me through all my horrible knitting mistakes, helping me to correct my errors, and guiding me to learn new stitches and techniques, I will happily be patient with you as you rest and recover! I hope you find peace through your healing process and return to us even better than before. Until then, I’ll wait!

Thank you for being such an amazing individual. . .wishing you healing thoughts and prayers . . .

  215. Get well soon please. Us struggling knitters need you healthy. Im with the previous comments, we love you feeling good first. Miss you.

  216. Please take care of yourself first, get well & then work on the website. My thoughts & prayers are with you at this difficult time.

  217. Hang in there, things do get better. Having been where you are for the past 14 years, you do what you can, when you can, and rest in between. Pain meds only do so much, and there is no shame in giving in to the need to rest and gather strength.
You will overcome this set back and come back to us, but only when you are able and well. Do not over exert now, or you will suffer later. Allow your body to heal, and we will wait for you. Thank you for all you have done and do for your readers.
Get well lady, and know you are in our thoughts and hearts.

  218. Liat:
Hope you feel better soon. take care of yourself first always. miss you but glad you are ok. We can wait……
    Ivy

  219. …..as always my faith in you as a “life-giver” on this earth remains fast. take care; we need you. love, Linda in Layton

  220. Oh my goodness dear girl, just focus on taking care of yourself. We appreciate you, and your blog readers will wait patiently until you are feeling better. Healing wishes to you.

  221. Dearest Liat,
You will be in my prayers for better health and with the community of knitters, I ask that we all pray for Liat. Your body needs time to heal your mind needs time to process and soon you will be strong healthy and content. I appreciate you for what you share with us. Soon Liat soon that big project your are engaged with will be completed when you body and mind are ready. We all understand what you are going through and patience we have and so shall you. Be well my friend

  222. Please don’t worry about us, your readers and fans! You focus on getting well. You’re in my prayers for a speedy recovery.

  223. Please don’t feel bad or guilty just keep on trying to get better. We aren’t going anywhere. We miss you but if we get too lonely there are plenty of you videos to watch :) I hope the problem can be taken care of easily and you will soon be pain free and feeling like your old self. Without good health nothing else matters so you are doing the right thing by taking care of it.

    Mary

  224. Just get better. The sooner you do the sooner we will see you again. If you don’t, the longer it will take. I really hope your neck gets better.

    Sharon

  225. I’m so sorry to hear what you are going through, Liat. Life has been pretty crazy for me since just before Christmas, so I didn’t even realize I hadn’t received an email from you in a long time until just a couple of days ago.

I hope you can find a resolution to your pain. I live with chronic pain so I know how debilitating it can be. Don’t feel guilty or stressed. We all know you can only do what you can do. Take care.

    Pat

  226. Very dear Liat
Hope you get well soon. My hearth is all for you as I can understand You so well pain is hard to suffer but not being able to do the work you love and do so well is harder. So think like this “I must take care of my self as so much depends on me”. As you can see we all love you and thank you for the wonderful work you have been doing and for being you . I am sending you my love from Israel
    Lea

  227. Hi Liat,

Please don’t feel guilty about not posting on your blog-the guilt will not help you get well. I would encourage you to seek out a “pressure point” chiropractor , pressure point chiropractors are VERY gentle when they readjust your back and even if the MRI does show other issues in your spine a good chiropractor will be able to lesson the pain during your recovery. Sending good thoughts your way:)

  228. There’s nothing for you to be sorry for. I’m glad you wrote to tell us what’s happening and so sad for your pain. I wish you a full recovery, however long the process takes. Healing thoughts are with you :-)

  229. Dearest Liat,

I blow your way sincere wishes for healing! We want you healthy to spread the joy of knitting. Your way of sharing it is uniquely special. Your videos have empowered me to approach knitting with abandon. I’m deep into brioche knitting now, trying to convert one-color patterns to two-color ones. I am no longer afraid to drop them stitches with shawls or to create yarn overs when i forget them. Literally, you’ve taught me that mistakes are good, and learning from them teaches not just the how but answers the whys! I am a teacher, and deeply appreciates a great one! So take time to heal!!!

  230. Hi Liat,
You really need to let go of this feeling your letting folks down and just heal. Don’t do that to yourself, people will get along just fine while you let your body do what it has to do. Your really not helping your body by having these feelings of “work to be done” it will all work out in the end, so just take time for your back to heal and then you can go back to doing the things you love. Best Wishes for Good Healing and quick recovery.
    Sincerely,
    Rose

  231. Every day I will say a prayer for you. Take time to heal. All your fans will be here waiting your return.

    Love you Liat! God Bless.

  232. Dear Liat,
Plans go astray, injuries happen, but the most important thing to remember is how you react to the change will dictate how well you become. I’ve had several neck injuries in my life and some of the time did the right things and life got back on track. Other times I cried, became self-absorbed, and had a very long pity party. That doesn’t work, just makes life miserable. Even neck injuries tend to heal themselves, partially, so just think of what you can do when the time comes that your nerves aren’t screaming with pain. What are you going to do then? Please don’t get on the pain meds track that will take away all your motivation and strength.
Good luck you talented girl, and we will be here when it is time for your return.

  233. I am so missing your posts, but just want you to take care of yoursself first so that we can have your inspiration and instruction for a long time in the future. Hope you are feeling much better soon.

  234. Hi Liat,
Please take care of yourself & the first step is to not feel guilty about anything. As has been said many times here, we will all be here when you are well & ready to resume. Take all the time you need. Sending positive thoughts & prayers your way!

  235. Liat,
My daughter and I are praying that you feel better and are pain free soon. Don’t feel badly, just take care of yourself.

  236. Cindy - Knittingnana

Please just do whatever you need to do to become well… we will still be here when you are able to come back to us…your concentration needs to be on YOU while you mend…and we are not going anywhere!

Sending you best wishes, positive thoughts and prayers…

  237. Dearest Liat,

Guilt shouldn’t be allowed to add to your issues right now. None of your fans are that selfish. Don’t stress and complicate your pain! We appreciate your difficulty and wish you would just take care. Be good to yourself. Your friends will always be here to welcome you back – when you are ready. Massage is good I’m jealous of a sister like yours. Get well! Trust us we want you well.

  238. One day I will read all of the wonderful responses to your email. It looks like there are some incredible healing words, and a wealth of information–so much support!
I hope we can all understand that we can only do the best that we can in this life. When you are physically not feeling well, you need to allow yourself to take the time that you need.
You have been instrumental in my knitting life……and you will ALWAYS be. I don’t feel like you have not been around, since I have access to the videos you have made so far. You are going to feel better and come back EVEN STRONGER. I think it is part of life to have setbacks. If we didn’t have any “bad” times, how would we be able to recognize the GOOD or GREAT times??
Hang in there! (I have had cupping done several times. Hurts so good!!!)

  239. i wish you an abundance of well being and pain free days and nights. take care of yourself, God bless and keep you safe. thank you for all the lovely videos and keep thinking those “happy thoughts”

    all the best.

  240. Your videos have been of immense help to me and I look forward to your new site.More importantly though is that you heal yourself first and don’t worry too much about your new site as it will unfold just at the right time..Take care,
Thanks for all that you do to help us all knit with more confidence..

  241. You’ve been squishing the nerves in your neck and shoulder by bad bad bad posture while at the computer. Use Esther Gokhale’s posture tips to stop your neck pain. You can get the gist of it from her youtube vids (at Google and Ted). She has a DIY book out.

For starters she shows how to stretch your vertebral column while sleeping and sitting so you stop compressing the nerves, the source of the pain. Biomechanics can be your friend. Good luck.

  242. My heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to you! I have been laid up for about 3 months myself and still trying to make rhyme or reason of what is wrong with me and it has left me not being able to knit much. I feel for you but don’t for one minute think you have let anyone down. Concentrate on getting better first, then worry about everyone else! Thank you as always for your outstanding tutorials, I have learned so much from you! Take good care and God Bless
    Sharon

  243. I have had the same issues regarding my neck and back with just the right movement causing a tingling, pins and needles sensation in my arm and all that jazz. I went and still keep going to the chiropractor which is helping me a great deal. Mine ended up being because my neck was really out of alignment and certain movements would pinch nerves causing pain and the occasional numbness and pins and needles. Your problem may not be exactly the same as mine but I would definitely talk to a chiropractor. :)

  244. Liat, please make sure you get a second opinion. I had 3 vertebra fused in my neck. The surgery went wrong. Please go to a neurologist before making any decisions. You are such an inspiration to us all, and we will all wait patiently for you to recover. All the best. You will be in our prayers.

  245. I forgot to say THANKS
    now . . . go away . . . stress and healing don’t play well together

  247. Had the same pain a few years ago. Accupuncture!!! Cured the bulging disc in my neck that was keeping me from yoga, knitting and blogging. I just found your website and I’ll be hanging around waiting for you to feel better. Take your time, I’ll just knit a bit.

  248. Dear Liat,
Goddesses are allowed a break now and then. Yarn goddesses, garden goddesses, kitchen goddesses, even Wall Street goddesses. To give the way you do, you need to replenish and nurture yourself. Think of it as a journey into the wilderness, where trials and revelations await.
It seems like forever now, but it isn’t. You’ll emerge into the light and you’ll shine more brightly than ever before!
Big hugs, and thank you for all you share with us!
    Cornelia

  249. You really should get an MRI. I didn’t get one on my lower back and ended up with disc surgery. Better to get a good look and a diagnosis.
I got tendinitis working on a tough hand sewing project. I use a sewing machine to make corsets now. It could be any kind of a thing that’s causing it, but that tingling is a sign it’s nothing to fool around with. Get a diagnosis.
I just figured you were about to get engaged or something. No one works all the time.
    Good luck!

  250. Please don’t worry about us! The best thing for all is for you to get better. Please feel better soon, and don’t push yourself. We will wait for you!

  251. Dear Liat,

I am so sorry you aren’t feeling well!!!! I thought maybe you were working and got very busy. I had no idea or clue you aren’t feeling well :( You need take care of your self first, let your sister help you :) I’m sure every body will wait until you are feeling better. So don’t worry about any of us, YOU COME FIRST xoxoxo

Not to late to say……. HAPPY NEW YEAR 2013, Keep your chin up Smile!!!! Hugs ;)

  252. Please take care of yourself. That should be your first priority. If you don’t you may not be able to come back and enlighten all our lives.

  253. Please take care of yourself first. Your fans and customers will be here when you are ready to work again, so don’t try to do a quick fix or come back too soon. See an orthopedist and get an MRI or whatever is needed to make a definitive diagnosis. Do physical therapy and make those exercises and stretches part of your maintenance for life. Don’t ignore warning signs from your body (or mind)—think of it as “reading your knitting (body)”. And don’t feel that you “owe” us updates or whatever. Another thing–people who work for themselves, especially these days, work all the time. Think of your mind as well as your body. Burnout, Liat—speaking as a self-employed LMT (35 yrs.) who has had to learn to draw a line in the sand to save my body, mind and my own life. Do it for yourself, first—for a change. Best wishes, Carol

  254. My sympathies are with you, I’ve had whiplash from falling as well as from a car accident and have also had a bad back injury. It takes time to recovery. Rest assured we all LOVE YOU!!! You are so sweet and kind, how could any one not wish you healing and blessings.

Lots of love with gentle hugs,
    Sally Bode

  255. I just wanted to let you know that we appreciate all the information that you bring to us as knitters. I also, want you to know that I found out that I had broken my neck about 11 years ago but didn’t find out until last year. It was a compression fracture. It is healed now. I thought that I was sleeping wrong and/or turning my head wrong which would pinch a nerve. I never thought it would have been broken.
So …. You just take your time in getting yourself healed. We will still be here waiting for your videos and knowledge.
God Bless You with continued prayers.
    Diana

  256. You take such good care of all of us, it’s time to take care of you. Hard to do I know- but this will all come back to haunt you in your later years. Slow down, stop the guilt- and heal. I know everyone will look forward to your new site and wonderful tips–the wait just makes it that much more suspenseful.
    Take care,
    FF

  257. Stop worrying about your knitters, we will be just fine. Worry is not good for healing and that is your only job right now.
Take care and know so many thoughts and prayers are going out for you,
    Susy

  258. Joan Lichtenstein

PLEASE do not think you are letting me down. I’ve been knitting all my life (I’m 60 now), but always did it the way my mother taught me until I met you. I have learned SOOOO much from you! So take those negative thoughts and toss them over your shoulder (really- physically toss them over you’re shoulder). Your neck and back will feel better not having that burden to carry, and altho it won’t cure you, you’ll still feel better. Thank you for all that you do!

  259. Hi Liat,
I’m so sorry to hear of your physical problems. As someone who has undergone several cervical spine surgeries, I would like to encourage you to have an MRI to be certain you don’t have spinal cord compression. Someone else mentioned this, and it’s controversial, but I’d also urge you not to have chiropractic adjustments on this delicate part of the body. I had prolotherapy injections about fifteen times between surgeries – they enabled me to postpone surgery until another disk ruptured but didn’t actually promote healing. Don’t rush into surgery; find a good neurosurgeon, and he/she will most likely recommend conservative treatment such as physical therapy for a few weeks barring serious compression. Your Faux Heel Flap Pattern is my all-time favorite – thank you so much! Will pray that you’re able to get a correct diagnosis and the appropriate treatment very soon.

  260. girl??? is that your waistline????? it’s so small! no wonder something is wrong. You have the waistline of a 5 year old on an over 20 body!!!!! Sounds like you also have a Jewish mother, quit feelin guilty dahlink, stay calm and carry yarn. Only God is perfect, you, well….you will have to wait awhile….until then, pray, knit, pray, be anxious for nothing, pray, and knit some more. love….

  261. TerryLee Diemert

    Dear Liat
I hope this note finds you feeling alittle better. I would not worry about your followers, we will all be here when you get better. DON’T hurry back take the time and heal properly. I know how you feel, i have had two back surgeries, i fractured a vertibra and hurniated three discs. I have alot of nerve damage and chronic pain, so PLEASE take the time that you need.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
    TerryLee Diemert

  262. Please take care of your self & get feeling better, don’t rush, we can be patient & wait for you to get well. Prayers & soft hugs are sent to you.

  263. HI Liat…
… I a so sorry to hear you are having health issues…I know it will be hard for you to do this, but you must not beat yourself up over not doing what you ‘think’ you ‘should’ be doing.. you must be still, listen to what your body needs… I hope you are up and about in no time at all…. in the mean time, breathe deep, and let things heal up..

  264. Refuah Shelemah!!! You need to finish taking care of you before taking care of us. We will be waiting patiently. Your body needs time to heal. My late father tried “cupping” and it didn’t work for him and got my mother very upset. Keep on trying other things and let us know what the MRI says. You have 230 people, so far, watching out for you and wishing you only the best.

  265. I just hope that you get better really soon! I love your website and I tell all of my crafty friends about it. I will wait forever if that is what it takes! Please feel better soon!

  266. Thank you for letting us know what’s been going on–hope you will soon find a solution to your neck pain and get back on the road of good health. Thought I’d let you know that, over the past few months, I’ve seen recommendations of your work on Knitting Paradise–you’re definitely a force for good amongst knitters!

  267. I am new to your e-mails/site (really enjoy them, btw) and have never made a comment on a blog, but your e-mail today really touched me. About a year and a half ago, I started having severe back pain, radiating down my leg. The thing I love almost as much as knitting is playing golf, so NOT GOOD! Through my wonderful chiropractor, I was referred to an osteopath who administered prolotherapy. Without being overly long-winded, it worked. It will take some time (not an overnight cure), but stick it out. The end result for me was no more high doses of anti-inflammatories (on for years) and playing golf again. I won’t tell you I’m pain free, but I function as well as ever and no surgery. Hang in there. I will keep you in my prayers!

  268. Liat
i refer to your videos over and over again and am so grateful for them. You are a wonderful teacher. Get well soon. Big hugs to our video friend!

  269. Liat,
The most important thing is to first get well. Collect your thoughts, relax and heal.
    It may take some time.
    Blessings,

  270. Hi Liat, hoping you feel better today, you need a brake from your needles and all your work, take care of yourself, that is what matters right now.Take it easy.
    I really enjoy your newsletters,

  271. Dear Liat, my heart goes out to you dear one. It is a hard time in your life,so do be gentle on yourself. Yes, take time to get well, do whatever you need to to take some of the stress that illness brings away. All of your friends are praying for you be sure of that. Just send a short message whenever you are up to it, so we can know how you are progressing. We love you our precious teacher.

  272. Your lessons have helped me through some tough days. Never apologize for taking care of yourself. Be well Liat we will await your return with open arms.

  273. Liat, this is a time for you to care for your own needs, no need to apologize to us. From a medical provider’s point of view, I strongly advise you not to get chiropractic manipulation, but to see a good orthopediast and get a C spine MRI to evlauate for nerve compression, disk problems, or spinal stenosis. You only get one spine. You must keep those knitting appendages well innervated! Best of luck, and do not add worries about your postings to your pain. We will be here when you get back.

  274. http://www.elainepetrone.com/

The link is for Elaine Petrone’s ball therapy. She has a personal story of suffering from injury and not being able to find help. Eventually she went everywhere and researched everything and came up with her own way to treat pain and heal the body. I have used her system for several years. We hold tension in our muscles and all over our body. She teaches us how to release the tension and breathe. She says, “it’s a new way to communicate with your body.” You can buy one of her kits with a ball and a DVD at amazon or Barnes and Noble or Sam’s. It’s not exercise. It really makes your body feel better.

  275. How strange that for a couple weeks I have had a nagging urge to send an email to you, thanking you for all the wonderful information on your site and in my Knitting Superstar book. I didn’t do it, but really should have! I will thank you now for being an awesome teacher, a readable writer, and a soothing voice in the wee hours when I am teaching myself something new with your guidance.
I hope you heal up and become perfectly well very soon; take care of yourself-you are a treasure to so many of us out here in the ether and we wish you well.

  276. Hi Liat,

I recently went through something similar but actually lost the strength in my right arm, which prevented me from doing that which I love most (though thankfully I was still able to knit). Turns out I had a pinched nerve in my neck and have been seeing a Chiropractor since late November. My strength is back now and I’m able to go back to the things I couldn’t do but still having ongoing adjustments.

Take care of you and looking forward to seeing the new site, new knitting swatches, patterns and videos, and of course your blog posts.

  277. Don’t worry about us. Life happens all the time. Sounds like you need a retreat with your needles. That’s a major reason why I knit. It calms me and helps me to cope when I get stressed out. I’ve been getting therapy on my back for the past two months. Traction has really helped, as well as my Body Back Buddy. It works out the kinks in my back when I’m not in therapy. Relax and take it easy. It will be fun to see your site when it’s finished.

  278. Thank you for taking the time to email us and let us know what is going on. I can’t imagine the pain you must be going through, but for you not to be blogging, it must be horrible! Just get better soon. I’m so sorry that you’ve been going through this struggle in your life. You are always so sweet and positive, I hate to think of you suffering. I will put you into my prayers for a speedy and safe recovery!

  279. I have never once received such a caring message such as yours; with such pain and emotion you’re thinking of us your students and fans. It’s more important at this point for you to take care of yourself and assure that you are under the care of a physicians, whether homeopathic or an otherwise licensed clinician. Unfortunately, the body’s means of communicating that something needs attention is through pain. You must listen to that pain and take the needed steps to remediate the situation and get better. I will keep you in my daily prayers that all goes well for you soon. Be well – Aida

  280. I also have chronic pain so I know how it is not to be able to get things done. Just take care of yourself first because we will be here when you are better.

  281. Hi Liat,
I am a 79 year old knitting addict and recently found your website. I have been knitting since I was 4 years old so I didn’t think I needed ‘instruction’ but I was led to your site to give you the following info: When I was 5 years old I was run over by a car. I spent many years looking for an answer to my various pains. At one point I thought I was dying and the doctors just weren’t telling me the truth since none of them could make the pain go away. I won’t go into the details here, but when I was about 35 I found the answer and am expecting to continue my wonderful pain-free health for another 80 years. Since my incredible (and simple) recovery I have sent many patients suffering from headaches, toe-aches (just kidding), back-aches, MS, spinal injury caused by bullet wound, carpal-tunnel pain, etc. to my doctor and they have all been ‘fixed’. Really! People come to him from all over the world but only by referral. If you want more info, reply by email, ask questions and I will tell you more. This is a ‘last resort’ situation for most people but is pain-free, no medicine, no exercise therapy, but you feel better immediately. I know what it feels like to be in such pain and feel hopeless. Hope to hear from you.

    Flo

  282. OMGoodness! You must let go of the feeling that you have let anyone down. I know that I was thrilled the first time I saw your website, knitting encouragements and lovely face. You are right where you are supposed to be but with less guilt or feelings of letting anyone down. It is amazing that you reach out to other knitters and share your thoughts and tips, etc. Take some ‘Liat’ time and know that your knitting peeps will still be waiting for you when you are able to move forward in the way that you desire to. Love, hugs and kisses from a grateful knitter.

  283. How odd that today of all days I decide to try to check my emails. I have not been well myself, I have a blood disease, won’t go into all the details. YOU must take care of you if you are to continue to share all your wonderful knowledge with us. Never apologize for having medical issues, please, we all care about you and want you well and above all out of pain!! I haven’t been able to knit in awhile, hope to start again soon though. Take care of yourself, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers, (wish your sister made house calls to GA)

  284. Sorry you are having health issues. Please take care and know that you are in a lot of people’s thoughts and prayers. Relax and heal.

  285. Dear Liat,
How very sorry we all are to hear of your problems and the pain! We adore the site, videos and wonderful teaching that you do, but most of all, we care about YOU!!

Please take the time and energy to heal! We won’t be going anywhere….

  286. Please don’t worry so much. We follow you because we love the way you teach; there are no other Liat’s!!!!!! We have all been busy for the holidays and there are plenty of “subs” out there in a pinch. Just relax (probably part of the problem) and take care of yourself; if you don’t, we won’t have you back anytime soon! There is a reason we follow your knitting teaching……that won’t change with an illness, promise. GET BETTER! Praying for you!

  287. Liat
You are being way too hard on yourself!! I am a self-taught knitter and your site helped me tremendously! I’m so excited to hear about the new website. I know it will be worth-the-wait.
In the meantime, I am a believer in Christ, and this scripture came to mind.. if you will allow me to share here it is:
    Isaiah 40:31
    But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
    they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
    they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint.
    A fellow knitter
    Maggie F

  288. As someone who suffers with chronic pain, I know what you are going through. You have to take care of YOU first and foremost, when you are feeling better then do what you most enjoy, even if it’s not for awhile. We all know you love what you do and we will anxiously await your return….when YOU are ready to return. Take care of yourself and give yourself a pat on the back for enduring something that people can’t see or relate to ….it’s difficult for some to do that when they see or say “well she doesn’t look sick”…..they are not walking in your shoes, so they have no idea…..you will be in my thoughts and prayers…..Bless you and I hope that you get some relief soon….

  289. Ditto, ditto, ditto , ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto , ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto , ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto , ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto , ditto, ditto, ditto, ditto , ditto, ditto, a thousand times over. Wow! You are loved, Lady, and all we want is to hear that you are on the way to full recovery. I think everyone of us would like to bring you a nice cup of tea, an afghan knitted just for you, and some comforting arms to give you an enormous hug. We love you, Liat. — you’ve become a dear friend to all of us. Now dry those tears & feel the love!

  290. Liat,
Don’t ever apologize for what you need to do. We all need to do things to keep ourselves going and staying healthy so no apologize should ever be necessary.

Glad you are going to be back soon….looking forward to it.

    Kathy

  291. ¡Que te mejores! Get well soon! Double ditto on the acupuncture. Poor you! Poor neck! I am praying for a speedy recovery. And when you do feel up to it and are back to 99% better- stop and take a few more days to relax and rest! You deserve it! We wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you! Take all the time you need- heaven knows we are all sitting somewhere knitting away while we wish you well. Abrazote ;) – a CO girl the next mountain over

  292. I was wondering why I had not received anything through email. (((hugs)))
I pray you will feel better soon. We all love & miss you. Be sure to stay very hydrated with purified water. God” s speed!

  293. Hi, Liat,
I was so glad to hear from you again! I’m so sorry that you haven’t been well, but I doubt that any of your knitting friends needs an apology from you!
We will patiently wait until you are up to continuing your communications with us.
Liat, you have been such an inspiration to me that I never begin a knitting project without thinking of you! You have given me the courage to try new things without fearing to fail (and I DO screw up a lot!). But I now know that I’ll get better each time I try.
Take care and hope to hear more from you soon,
    Linda
Thank you for that encouragement, and know that we will wait until you are ready and able to continue.

  294. Dear Liat,

I am sorry to hear about your back. While we miss you, your health is important so please rest and recuperate. You are too awesome a talent and too generous a lady to suffer. I am doing a white light meditation for your quick recovery. Thanks for letting your fans know.

    Be well.

  295. Banish the guilt dear one. Sending you angels for healing and wishing you all of the patience, endurance, and good care you need to get yourself better. We will be here. Besides… I have many a project and an oversized stash that could use some attention before I get any new ideas from you.

    Love, peace, and best wishes…

  296. Hi Liat,
I was wondering what had happened to you! I always look forward to your emails:)

So sorry to hear about your neck but I hope you heal quickly and begin to feel much better in yourself very soon. It’s amazing how depressed an injury such as yours can make you feel. Don’t worry about the website, everyone understands, just concentrate on getting better and stronger!

    Kerry

  297. Liat, you spend so much time nurturing us and our knitting lives that we can hardly fault you for taking the necessary time to look after yourself! I’m sending good thoughts and wishing on stars for you. Take care. :)

  298. Liat, I hope your spirits are lifted by all of these posts from your many followers and friends. Please take as much time as you need to get well and let us know how you are doing when you can. Sending prayers up for you.

  299. Liat, dear one — so sorry for your problems. Pain is a terrible thing that is hard to deal with, especially when it interferes with doing what you love and want to share. Thank you for sharing yourself with all of us. I’d bet that there are few of us who do not fully understand how you are feeling.
Please put all your energy into getting well; our prayers and love undergird you every moment of every day and night. You are never alone, and we will join you as you improve day by day. Use us as instruments of your healing over time and we will rejoice with you are you improve.

  300. Hi, I hope by the time you recieve this message you are feeling better. I had a frozen shoulder for a year before I found Tuina. I went to Dr.’s and they wanted me to take pain meds, muscle relaxants, pt, and everything else. I don’t do well with meds, so like you I tried alternative treatments. Tuina is an alternative treatment. If you could find a Tuina Master you will be pleasantly surprised how well it works. It hurts but I felt results immediatly. It took 11 visits but after that I could move my arm again freely. I will repeat it hurt, but it was a hurt so good feeling. I don’t know where you live but my sister lives in AZ and she went to school for it. I live in GA and haven’t found anyone that does it. I found accupuncturist, chiropractics, but no Tuina? Look it up, it is well worth a try. Good Luck!

  301. Dear Liat,

First of all I want to tell you how thrilled I am that I found your site. I am new to knitting and my first stop is your site when I have a question. This may sound silly but I find you voice very soothing and easy to listen to and your explanations clear and almost calming when I am in a frantic, oh no I made a mistake what now mode. I wish I could sit with you and get a lesson but it almost feels like I am when I watch your videos. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Secondly, my sister has been having prolotherapy injections and she has had great improvement although she also said it is painful, I hope you have similar results. Funny coincidence, I am a massage therapist but don’t often get to work on her since we live 2300 miles apart!

Take care of yourself first, your website will be fantastic when the time is right,
    Susan

  302. Liat,
Please take all the time you need to heal properly. No need to apologize!
I’m still learning from what you’ve already recorded, and I’m sure many others are also.
May all your inflammation and discomfort disappear soon!

  303. Hi Liat. I’m sure you’ve long since stopped reading all the well wishes, but I just had to add my own and also thank you for all knitting help you’ve given me. Yours was the only video that explained magic loop so that I could understand it, and all your videos are very clear and helpful. So thank you. I could say I feel your neck and arm pain, but actually it is my own pain I’m feeling, so will just say I can easily sympathize and wish you a speedy quick recovery.
    Hugs and best wishes,
    Kate

  304. Hi Liat,

Over the holidays, I watched your “Purling on Magic Loop” video about 700 times until I felt confident enough to start my first pair of fingerless gloves. Next up … cables! Your help is clear, understandable, and invaluable. Just take care of yourself and get better — nothing else matters.

  305. Take a deep breath and blow away all that guilt. Repeat as often as necessary! I and many others love you and want the best for you. We’ll be glad to see your emails and website when they’re done, but you are the wonderful and unique Liat. Take some time to love her back to health, and the rest will fall into place. We’ll still be here.
(how wonderful to have a massage therapist in the family!)

  306. you just need to take care of yourself first! We will still be here waiting to hear from you when you are better!!!

  307. First and foremost you need to take care of yourself. You can’t do anything on the site if you are not healthy and in a good place physically and mentally. Yes we miss the updates, but we can wait until you’ve sorted things out. I haven’t been on your email list for very long but I absolutely love the emails. They teach me new things and they remind me of things I should be doing. We’ll be here when you’re ready to come back full force, don’t worry and do feel bad.

  308. Hey Liat,
I’m so sorry to hear that you’re having neck issues. I wondered why u hadn’t been blogging lately. U hang in there. Take care of yourself and be strong. We’re here for u with knitting spirit. .. Can’t wait till your up and running strong again. I would give u a gentle hug if I were close by!

  309. Just get better! We’ll be waiting for you when you’re back to full strength. I’ll add you to my prayers.
    Many hugs and blessings,
    Shirley

  313. Oh for goodness sake, Liat.
Stop the apologies and the guilt trip, they’re not needed.

  314. Dear lovely Liat, please stop feeling guilty! You have taught so many people so much…including me! Take time to take care of yourself. This is coming from a friend (me) who has had 2 fusions & who experiences that pain & numbness routinely. Please accept my prayers & positive thoughts. I hope you will be back to your energetic sweet self soon!

  315. I LOVE YOU, LIAT!!!!! Love, Love Love you!
Love you, Love you, Love you.
There. Feel a tiny bit better now?
    (We all love you.)

  316. God bless you, and know that you have a prayer circle here working on relief for you, too. Take care of you first, and the rest will follow!

  317. As Sheree stated, YOU must take care of yourself FIRST. We will still be here when you’re ready and most importantly, healthy!

  318. Have missed you. Sorry you are not well right now. I know how that neck and back pain is. Most improtant take care of you.
Here is wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to the new site.
My prayers and thoughts. God Bless

  319. Really feeling so sorry for you. How painful; what a wonderful sister! Most importantly take the time for yourself–give yourself all the time you need to heal. We will all be very patient in the meantime. Please know you have helped me so much to enjoy the wonders of knitting.

  320. Have you tried the Great healer..if you leave it to God rather than try and do things to heal yourself you may have better results..

  321. Liar, I’m new to this site, but I can’t wait for you to feel better, so I can enjoy it like everyone else. I’ll be saying prayers for you, in the mean time relax and take care of yourself!!!

  322. Liat, please stop worrying about disappointing us. Right now you need to relax, take care of yourself and get that MRI. We are here thinking good thoughts for you and hope you will begin to feel better soon.

  323. Liat, wow… I’m so sorry you are in pain. :( I was so glad to hear from you. I had wondered if you were okay since you are my favorite blogger. Please know that your health and well being is number one, and all of us here will patiently wait for you! Take good care and praying for your health to return.
    <3 Kawaii aka lain

  324. I am so sorry to hear about your neck problem. Please take care of it because your health is the most important thing to you! Your posts are a wonderful learning tool, and we want you to be able to continue, so get better first. My thoughts and prayers are with you, so get well, we will wait for you….and thank you so much for explaining where you were. Linda

  325. Liat – Dear Soul, Thank You so much for letting us know. We all can pray for you. And you lean on them. The unnecessary stress you were carrying I am sure didn’t help. Remember stress is a killer. I am sure your sister has told you that before. Doing all the natural stuff is commendable and I totally believe in it but there comes a time when something needs to be looked at via x-ray or MRI to see what physically going on. Then back to natural medicine if possible. And your loyal fans will be here when you can go on so please, please back off. Blessings and Prayers, Vicki

  326. Liat, get strong again!. Because the thing we all loved about your posts and videos is your gusto, your confidence that all of us can do more and better, and your sense of humor while you humor us along! Sorry you’re neck is so out of whack. Especially if its because of your website angst. You’ll see, it will all fall into place. Be well, girl.

  327. Number one priority is to take care of you, even if it is taking longer than you would like. My guess is that even one day would be too long for you, right? Give yourself a break, you are human. Once you are well, we will still be here to take advantage of your wonderful knowledge and help. Hugs!

  328. First and foremost I am so sorry about your neck injury. I get it. Been there. I found reike helped some and sometimes cortisone shots but in the end it was that four letter word “time”‘ and another favorite expression ‘reduce stress and relax’. In fact, when having a flare up my pain goes into my shoulder which can hurt when I’m knitting ‘English Style”. So, I was fooling around trying to find a more comfy way to knit when I thought I’d ‘discovered’ an entirely new approach. It’s called “Continental”….guess I didn’t “invent” it afterall. LOL Take care of your health. Most important of all is your health. I’ve been wondering so much about you and now I’m feeling badly that I didn’t write to find out what was going w/you. I actually checked to make sure I was still on your email list the other day as I’ve got a new computer and thought maybe things got messed up. This is my first and foremost knitting site and I have tried to support it by not only using your fantastic free videos/patterns/blog and follow on Ravelry but by purchasing your amazing “Kniting Superstar” which I can’t live without. I am very faithful to your site and hard work and I know all of us here are!!!! We love you!

  329. As all of us will tell you, your health is your No. 1 priority. Things happen in life and this is just a side step for awhile and you’ll be back to help us like no one us can with your knitting videos…..God bless you and I will keep you in my prayers. You have an awesome talent to share with us and I am so grateful for you. I’d better practice more knitting so I can keep up with you….take care and pamper yourself.

  330. I read about your neck injury and sure wish you well! Having an MRI is a great idea. I had a similar thing happen about 5 yrs. ago. Tried lots of things and finally an MRI showed bone deterioration. I had surgery and had cervical fusion and have been fine since. Not much loss of motion and no more pain. Hopefully you don’t need surgery but if you do, it may solve your problem. Wishing you well!

  331. Liat, just take care of yourself and get well. Being on the computer is probably not helping your neck much. Take some time and just rest and do what you should to take the stress off.

  332. Take all the time you need to take care of yourself, Liat – you are SO worth waiting for. I will add you to my prayer list.

  333. Liat, you are a silly wabbit. Stop stressing out about your website or it will just take you longer to get better. You get us all chilled out with your videos and blogs, it’s time to take some of your own medicine…relax, untense those muscles, breathe, and worry not. We’ll all still be here when you get back, so take the time you need to recover. And stay off the yoga, it’s not for you.

  334. You have NOT let us down!! I was wondering if something had happened and was concerned that maybe I was somehow missing your emails, so I’m glad you let us know what was going on (you have a wise sister). I really appreciate the time and work you put into the website, as well as the videos and all the other instructions you help us with. So don’t worry or feel guilty about taking the time you need to get better and finish the work you need to do on the site.

  335. I am sorry to hear you are having your problems. It seems to happen to all of us at one time or other. It is nice to hear you have such a positive attitude, Keep it up. Glad you are getting into the recovery stage and are feeling well enough the carry on with the good job you have been doing. Lorraine

  336. No need to feel guilty. You have been super helpful/wonderful in the knitting world. I hope you can feel the love sent your way and prayers being said for you. Your health is most important. We will be here when you can come back.

  337. Liat, I am so sorry you are having so much trouble with your neck, but please be assured that your health is much more important than our knitting!!! We will still be here when you are feeling better….please take care of yourself and don’t worry….we’ll be right here and are looking forward to having you back with us!

  338. Liat – you’re amazing. But amazing people also have to bend and crack because that is what gives you opportunity to grow in so many different ways. So, please know that we miss you but also that our collective positive energy is your cushion of support, as you take care of your mind and body.

So here’s the deal, woman: I will continue to knit my 2-at-a-time mittens and socks if you promise to take care of yourself. Roger, that? Good.

See you when we see you!

  339. Bless those in need of healing with r’fu-a sh’lei-ma, The renewal of body, the renewal of spirit, and let us say Amen. Sending positive energy your way, hope you feel better soon!

  340. Liat ~ Now you can see that we all love you and your knitting website. I love getting your newsletter, amd love your helpful instructions. But your health is the most important thing. So, take care, get well, and we will all wait for you.

  341. I’m so sorry you feel you have to give any sort of apology, Liat—you’ve given us so much already! I could just sit and watch your wonderful videos over and over again, listening to your calm, reassuring, encouraging words, and be so happy. Please take the pressure off yourself. Get well, and then have fun working to make your website the joyful place you want it to be. God bless!

  342. Now you can see that we all love you and your knitting website. I love getting your newsletter, and love your helpful instructions. But your health is the most important thing. So, take care, get well, and we will all wait for you.

  343. Marcie Joy Boroughs

:) Silly goose! LIFE happens!! We know that and won’t hold it against you.

I’m glad you let us know, though, so we won’t be wondering and worrying, thinking of all kinds of horrible things.

Now, just go take good care of yourself.

  344. I really miss the active you, but totally understand what’s going on with you. I hope you feel better soon. I can’t wait for the updated website, when you’re ready. Meanwhile we’re all out here knitting away and using your videos until you get back!

  345. As others have said, no need to be sorry or apologize. You just need to take care and nurture yourself and get strong and healthy again. Thanks for all your work on this website. It has been a great resource for me.

  346. Please, please, please take care of yourself! Yes, your posts are missed. Yes, I can’t wait (at least not very patiently) for the wonderful changes you are working on for the website. But what I really can’t wait for is to have you back 100% doing what you do so well-teaching, encouraging and gently challenging us. (Thank you for the update, it does make the waiting easier. )

  347. Liat, sweetie

You count more than anything else. You take care of yourself. The website, the videos and everything else will still be here. Get that MRI and then you’ll know which way to go. Keep us updated please.

Remember, folk will help out if you think of something. Just yell. And yes, I’m volunteering if you need assistance. I’m sending you gentle hugs (avoiding the neck area) and blessings. We are here for you.

  348. Benedetta S. Colletti

I’m so sorry for your pain, Liat. I wish you a full recovery. Please do not apologize. There is no need. Over the years, you have given all your followers a huge wealth of tutorials and inspiration. My knitting skills and my creativity have soared because of all the work you have done. If I took the time to practice every single one of your fantastic videos, I would be busy for a very, very long time. So don’t worry about us, your followers, because we have plenty to keep busy. Please take care of yourself. I’m sure I’m not the only here who wishes that we could help you the way you have helped all of us. May you heal and return to smiling and knitting.

  349. Dear girl, there is no way that you have let us, down far from it, you left us so many things to try and think about that you have given us time to sort ourselves out.
I’m so sorry to hear that it was because you were unwell, and stress about us on top of an injury is not good. We can wait for however long it takes for you to be fully fit.

God Bless and heal you. Love, Myra

  350. Dear Liat~ I wish you a very speedy recovery. Please take good care of yourself, and know your faithful followers will be there for you when you are able to return…and not one moment sooner. I adore your work and your commitment to knitting, but want you to be whole, healthy, and happy! Take care, Liat!

  351. Take care of yourself, do what you need to do, don’t come back to quickly. We want you all better , not halfway. You are to precious to us to be not feeling well. Our prayers are with you

  352. Liat-your body is hitting you over the head to slow down and take care of yourself-just go with it and put all your chores-including the website on hold-they’ll be right there waiting for you when you’re healed-just make getting well your priority-you’ve provided us with great training wheels so we can survive on your terrific videos.

  353. I’m not known for crying, but you had me tearing up a little by the end. I just wanted to let you know how valuable this website, and more importantly, YOU, are to me. Thanks to you, I conquered my fear of magic loop and toe-up socks. Thanks to you, I have a beautiful pair of socks that never fails to get compliments. So take all the time you need to heal, because you need it. I’ll miss you!

  354. The best thing you can do for yourself, is to get healthy. While everyone misses you, a healthy you is #1. Good luck………and breathe!!

  355. You don’t need to apologize I hear you
    I get a lot of neck pain too;-{
I just started knitting and Love that I found a continental knitter
I live south of you in CO
Hope you get better real soon I’ll pray that all goes well

  356. My Kids would be shocked to hear me say this….
Your health is far more important then knitting….. Yes, I said it… there are 1 or 2 things more important than the art of knitting! (Secretly bows my head and ask forgiveness).
You are to remain stress free worry about no one but Liat and allow the slow healing process to begin. I will keep you in my prayers and will hope for an uneventful recovery!
    Take good care!

  357. I understand what you are going through. I too have had back issues and am now retired. I am sure the people ( knitters ) that appreciate you will watch for you to come back and if they give up and move on, they really did not appreciate you as a person and a knitter. We knitters have to stick together. Do what you need to do to take care of yourself. I have knitted lying down before. Take care……miss you!!!

  358. just be nice to you! take care and release yourself from the obligation of have to’s and should’s.

you are such great service to so many. but even the tide recedes. give yourself a break.

  359. Dear Liat-

You are awesome! Thank you for helping me expand my knitting repertoire and for inspiring me in so many ways. I am SAD that you are unable to “joosh” up your website but HAPPY that you are taking time to work on your health. I join the chorus of others in wishing you a speedy recover and offer this affirmation by Louise Hay:

“I send love to each organ, bone, muscle, and part of my body. I flood the cells of my body with love. I accept healing and good health here and now.”and so it is.

Take your time…. we’ll be waiting for you. :O)

  360. We will wait for you to get better. Please take care of yourself. I will send healing prayers your way. Your web site and videos are great. Thanks Liat.

  361. So sorry to hear the pain you have been going through, the best to you in finding a way to heal!! Have missed you, I am 77 yrs old, and with your fantastic video’s, went from scarves to 2 at-a-time magic loop socks…………….awesome…wishing the best and that
    you will be back soon!!

  362. Just take your time and energy in healing yourself… That takes center stage… We miss you, and want you back,, but only when you can and feel good doing it… Our creativity and drive come from within and can’t be rushed…
I had a severe car accident 13 yrs. ago,, was told then I would never walk, or drive again,, but hung in there and found a doctor who said he could fix it,, make me good as new,, well,,, with a fused ankle and limp left,,, I am walking and driving,, and loving life.. So you hang in there,, we will all be here waiting on your return…
Hugs and prayers for a good positive recovery… Sarina Wilson

  363. Thank you for everything you do. I am sorry to learn what’s happening to you. As you can see you have lots friends who you may not know but we genuinely care. We all wish you well and want you to be happy and rested. Do what you need to do and look after yourself and heal. Your openness and trust in us in sharing your feelings with is such a strength to me and I bet more of us would be better off doing exactly the same thing. So, take your time and let us all know what your up when you are better. We will all do a happy dance gangbam style when you do!

  364. well, for heaven’s sake…YOU HAVE TO TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF FIRST before you can take care of your knitting fans…All us old ladies out there know from a LIFETIME of experience that life is too short to be apologizing for something you cannot help and especially if you have health issues. You are being WAY too hard on yourself. We all love you and think you are the GREATEST ever, and there’s plenty of the website so you just take all the time you need to get right with yourself. Lots of love and prayers your way….and remember, you are NOT responsible for anybody else’s feelings, disappointment, whatever, but only that of your own well being!

  365. Feel better, you are lucky you have such a good sister to help, although those cups look like they may leave you with many hickeys : )

  366. hugs to you!!!!! You will be in our prayers and thoughts….. do what you have to do for YOU and YOUR health….. your following will be here when you, your awesome website return…….
    xx

  367. Wow, sorry to hear you are having so many problems. Hope the MRI shows what is wrong with you so it can be healed. Lord bless you.

  368. Liat, what is most important is You and your health. I pray you are on your way to healing and start feeling like yourself. Take care.

    Annie

  369. Liat,
There is no need to feel guilty. We will be here when you are well and ready to knit again. I hope you heal quickly.
    xoxo
    Gail

  370. Well, I love your site and enjoy getting your emails. I am a counselor and have always told my clients to take care of themselves and that’s my advice to you. Only you can take care of you and you are the most important person to take care. We look forward to hearing you are doing much better, so get well soon. JoAnn

  371. Relax and take a deep breath. We all want to be Superwoman and very few of us can be perfect all the time. Work on getting better and we’ll all still be here knitting along and glad to see you when you are better. Keeping good thoughts for your speeding recovery.

  372. Liat – you need to know are loved – look at all the posts above mine (and following too!) – we all care because you are Liat our Friend – first and foremost. The fact that you are a great teacher is frosting on the cake. It saddens me deeply to know that you are suffering, but I am so happy you have your sister to help and support you through this terrible time. Take care of yourself, get better, and if there is ANYTHING that I or anyone here can do to help, just whistle! We’re here for you just like you have been for all of us.

    1. We will wait for you to get better. Take care of yourself. I will be sending prayers your way. Your web site and videos rock. Thank you.

  373. Please take care of yourself. It is not what we produce in our life but the road we go about it. Prayers will be lifted up for you.
    God Bless your recovery.

  374. Liat, I’m familiar with the symptoms you describe. I hope by now you’ve had the MRI and the docs know what’s going on. I learned about ten years ago that I have a 50% compression of the spinal cord at C5/6, that’s the neck, as I’m sure you know. There was immediate panic and over-reaction leading to recommendations of surgery. Do NOT proceed quickly into those surgical waters! I’ve since talked to people who’ve had the surgery; some were happy, some were not. My neurosurgeon (the chair of the department here in San Francisco) has been following me with interest for ten years. Many of his colleagues felt/feel that surgery is the only prophylactic option, to protect me from what could be a catastrophic whiplash injury. On the other hand, my physician believes that my condition could remain stable for the rest of my life, assuming I do not suffer a whiplash injury. I’m sharing all this with you just so you will proceed with caution. I should add that I have no pain, and I avoid sports like downhill skiing to lessen that chances that I’ll sustain an injury. Hyperextension of the neck, either frontwards or backwards are to be avoided, so I take care to keep my knitting away from my body instead of tucked into my tummy. I hope this info has been helpful. Good luck.

  375. Sorry to hear of your issues. I’ve been too busy to really read any sites with a high risk, rare surgery on Oct 30th and my husband passing on Dec 7th and the gov’t needing information for taxes for a business, I have been spinning. You take care and get healed. I think we have enough from your past knitting tips to experiment with to keep us busy for a long time. Thanks for your efforts and time and will look forward to you being well and back “in the saddle” again.

  376. Liat, you can’t help others before you help yourself! We want you healthy and active, please take all the time you need. You’re my Knitting Guru and I’m happy to wait as long as it takes for you to heal. You certainly have never let me down. I always send people to Knit Freedom and they are amazed at how much is on your site. There is already enough on your website to keep my friends and I busy for a very long time.

Remember, Guilt is a worthless emotion that hurts you more than others. Take care of yourself!

    Sending healing prayers your way.

  377. Dear Liat,
Please do not feel that you have let us down. You have not. I have not been a member of your website for long but I have been a member long enough to appreciate all the hard work and dedication you have put into the website. Right now the most important thing you must do is to get well. We will be patient as we pray for speedy recovery. Take care of yourself and remember that we the members of the knitting community are keeping you in our prayers and extend our best wishes for a speedy recovery.
    Virginia

  378. Take care of yourself. We will all still be here. You can’t make the site what you want it to be if you are not feeling well. Breathe, it will be alright.

  379. There is only one you and we can’t live without your amazing knitting knowledge! SO take good care of yourself, however long that takes! We will patiently wait till you feel better, and I hope for you that is soon!! No feeling bad for no blog posts, especially now that we can see you need time to heal. That will not help the healing process! And that is a direct order from knitter mom here! : )

  380. Liat, I said a prayer for you right now. Don’t worry about us, you take care of yourself. This is a short season in your life. It WILL get better. Relax and breathe. And know that so many people care about you.

  381. I wish you the very best and hope you will be feeling better real soon. Your health is the most important issue right now. We’ll be right here for you as you have a lot of us praying for your recovery. I go in next week to have a ping pong ball sized kidney stone removed so we can recover together. I hurt also so know where your coming from. Thank goodness for a pain pill once in awhile. Hang in there gal along with me. We’re tough and have so many great knitting projects to look foreward to. I think I can speak for the others in saying, “We love and care about you.” Take good care of yourself.

  382. Take the time you need with no guilt to get yourself back into working order. We’ll still be here when that day comes. You’ve already taught me enough to keep me busy practicing for quite a while!
    Best,
    Bonnie K.

  383. Rochelle McBride

A wise proverb says “A stitch in time saves nine.” In the case of knitters, it could be something like ‘a dropped stitch leads to nine!’ You need to take care of your body now so that it doesn’t deteriorate further and really cause problems down the road. Everyone understands that issues happen in life. We’ve all been there, done that. You should find out what’s going on and address the physical issues. I know you’re all about going natural, but PLEASE don’t go to a chiropractor. As someone in the health care field for many years, I can tell you that I’ve seen a lot of chiropractors do more damage than benefit. If you need to see a doctor, go to an orthopedic physician. Take care of yourself and all the pieces will fall into place on their own. Besides, if most other knitters are like me, we have multiple projects going at once and we have more than enough to keep us busy until you’re back to your healthy self!! Be well, my teacher. You have taught me more about knitting than I ever thought possible. You opened up a whole new world for me! Take care. And don’t worry about us. We’ll all be fine.

  384. Health always comes first! I was only worried that you had some personal problem or severe health isseue that you were dealing since you were off the computer. We are so blessed to have you in our lives sharing all your knowledge with us, and your videos are so personal I feel like you are family. Tale care of yourself and know that you have so many people that care deeply about you and your well being. If it means scaliing back for awhie then that is what you must do, because without your health life is void of pleasure. You have gifted us with so much already that you can rest and repair your body back to its happy natural state. Make this your best year ever!

  385. Liat,
Please do not feel guilty; our main concern is your health. Do what you need to do for your health, then you can be back to the “old grind!”

You are loved; not only for your knitting skills but for your kindness and carrying.
    Get well!

  386. Feel better, sounds like you have a pinched nerve high up in your neck. I’m amazed more knitters don’t have it. I have this problem, you feel a tingly sensation from the base of your neck running down your shoulder to your fingers. Heat around your neck and see an orthapedic doc for necks. Then see a good physical therapist, they can give you good neck exercise to do to strengthen your neck muscle.

  387. Aww I know how having neck pain is a pain to deal with. I have neck pain too. My approach is to see my chiropractor and accept this too shall take time to heal. Like the others stop feeling guilty about not being able to do more videos! Just take care of yourself! I have some web design background. I would love to help you out. Let me know I offer my time freely if needed smiles! Maggie

P.S. I look at your website ideas. They look great!

  388. Although you have been under the weather, I have been happily knitting away while watching your videos. So, even though you need to take a break, rest easy knowing that you have already created enough content to keep us beginners busy for quite a while. Take all the time you need to get better. I am not going anywhere and will be hanging out around your site for years to come.

  389. Heavens to Betsy! Don’t apologize . It’s great to hear from you again – and to know why you have been absent from cyberspace for a while – hope that you have a satifactory recovery from pain and whatever caused it.
    Cheers

  390. Feel better soon! We all need to take care of ourselves to be better able to help those we love and care about. Sounds like your sister is a wise woman.

  391. First of all- Here is a hug for you– You need to know we are not upset with you-
Life happens.,. things come up- it is ok to take a break and sometimes very much needed. When you get back to being healthy and get back into the routine- it will all come together.. You are human and it will all be ok.. I was crying when I read what you wrote. You need to comfort you for now and we will all be here when it is all ready for us to see!! Hugs

  392. Just keep it simple and just keep going—– sorry you hurt—sorry for your troubles. Girl we ain’t going anywhere—-get well so we can move on

  393. Get better soon – I’m still knitting socks 2 at a time so in no rush. Take care of yourself first as no one else does it for you and there is a long life ahead of you. Look after yourself and see you later

  394. Liat you bring such joy to everyone who uses your site and blog. Just yesterday I needed some help in making a pom pom and your UTub video walked me right through the pom pom making with great success. You are an inspiration to me everyday I pick up my knitting needles. Please be well. I will keep you in my prayers. Your health is much more important.

  395. lyndell netherton

you are way too hard on yourself. give yourself a break. your videos and patterns and instructions are the best i have ever seen. you are amazing but, you have to be healthy to do this. give yourself time to heal and take good care of you.

  396. Prayers and gentle hugs for you!! Relax and heal! Hurting your neck is no joke, been there. We will be here, you are our hero! Take care!

  397. Oh Liat!!! So sorry to hear about your injury and the pain you have been in! Please let me echo the many people above who encourage you to TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF. You must come first in a situation like this, so TAKE CARE and we all look forward to the new website when you are well and strong and healthy again! Be well, Liat. We all love and admire you so much!!!

  398. YOUR HEALTH comes first. Everything else in descending order! Think of it this way, while you are “gone”, we can all practice what you have taught us. Practicing will just make our work better!
    Take care and God bless!

  399. Oh Liat, don’t worry about US, we’ll be here when you are back better than ever! Take care of yourself and do what’s best for YOU!!! Rest, recuperate, recharge – we’re on your side!!!

  400. Please do not be so hard on yourself. You are just like the rest of us. In life there are
bumps in the road. May the Lord bless you and strenthen you in the days ahead.
We will be here waiting when you feel well enough again to resume the blog.
    Blessings

  401. I had no idea..new to your site and I’m so very sorry for your pain. I am sending you good thots and wishes for relief. I’ll be praying too. I say concentrate on yourself and I will still be here when you are ready and can come back and inspire me.

  402. Take care of yourself! You ultimately will be no use to us if you don’t…and we all need you. We will be patient and keep you in our prayers (which work…I know this first hand). We women tend to carry so much guilt and you were wise to listen to your sister and tell us. Please don’t worry about letting us down…your faithful followers will be here ready and willing when you can come back. Take care of yourself, in friendship and gratitude for helping a new knitter, Pam

  403. Liat Gat –

You are such a wonderful, cool person and have been so giving on your KnitFreedom website with all your tips and projects and just about everything. We out here who really enjoy your stuff, yes we miss you, but most of all, we want you to get well. So we haven’t heard from you, no big – we’ll hear from you when you feel the time is right. The most important thing is that you get well, be of good cheer, think positive thoughts, let the sun smile on you and it will all come about. Please don’t get down on yourself -you have so many fans out here rooting for you and wishing you the very best. When you are ready to come back to the website, you’ll let us know. A very BIG hug to you!

  404. Relax lovely lady. No one is going anywhere. I think if you look around, lots of people take breaks from their blogs for all kinds of reasons. In fact, everyone takes breaks – teachers, writers, musical artists, businesses. Restaurants close for “remodeling,” highways close for repairs……. You cannot be your creative best when you’re suffering. So put up the “closed” sign, put your feet up and have a cup of tea, or whatever your drink of choice. Relax, heal, rest, let the stress evaporate. We’ll all be here waiting for you when you’re ready.

  405. Liat,

Please let go of the guilt you are feeling! Those of us who love your work will be here, waiting patiently. The most important thing is your health (physical & emotional!), for that is what allows you to do the things you love. Good vibes & happy thoughts for your speedy recovery!

    Be well,
    Bethany :)

  406. God Bless – and Please take care of Yourself first & foremost……

We ALL will survive while YOU recuperate……. Please take care !!!

    Hugs, Carol in Cocoa Beach

  407. OMG, please don’t feel guilty about taking care of yourself. You do what you need to do, and let the internet community relax about it. Thank you for sharing so that we aren’t wondering of our subscriptions expired or some such thing like that, but take a moment to breathe and do what you need to get better.

I’m also looking forward to the changes you’re doing to the website. I’m sure someone as creative as you are will have an amazing site when all is said and done.

Since you did decide to share in your pain, I’ll be sending good thoughts and positive energy wishes out to you in the world. I wish I could do more, but given the vast circumstances of only knowing you in cyberspace I think that lots of love will have to suffice for now. Speedy recovery to you!

  408. Don’t worry Liat! We all just want to you get yourself better! The more time you spent of healing yourself, the more time you have being the amazing teacher you are :) Please take care! I look forward to the new things to come when you’re 100%

  409. Sorry to hear that you are having such problems. Just listen to your body, and do what has to be done. Know that we are all sending good wishes to you and hoping for a speedy recovery! We’ll be so happy to welcome you back :o)

  410. You sound a bit overwhelmed by everything you have to deal with right now. Remember your absolute priority is your health, your lovely new website can wait a while. Be kind to yourself, and know that good wishes are being sent in your direction from around the world.

  411. Oh, Honey…you have absolutely NOTHING to apologize for! I ditto everything everyone else has said. You take care of YOU first, we’ll all be here when you’re ready.

  412. Dearheart…
You haven’t disappeared, you’ve merely been on a much needed sabbatical. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Come back when you’re ready, and the body is willing. Prayers headed out for your recovery and renewal.
    Muddling through in the meantime…
    Denise

  413. So sorry for your pain! I went through something very similar and got it figured out. If you want to email me, I will be happy to share how out worked out. I tried many of the same things you did first. Don’t worry about us, we will be here when you get better!

  414. Hi Liat,
Praying for a speedy and 100% recovery.
Thank you for all the hard work you do so that we can enjoy knitting more.
    Martha

  415. The most important thing at this moment should be your health, because without it we will not have a website. It will be hard to not miss you but we will try to be patient while you recover. Then you will be free of pain and worries, only then will everything become clear on how to proceed with the new website you really want to put out there. God’s Speed on your recovery and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.

  416. Big big hugs to you…no guilt at all! Loved your honest, open post….always hard when one opens up the vulnerability part of your soul…but that is what it is all about..you are loved and thought of….Soon!!! Big hugs.

  417. The best thing you can do for your Family, Friends, and Fans is to take care of yourself! Everything else will work itself out. I hope you are well soon. Sandi

  418. Liat..I have been trying to get to your Q & A page to let you know the problem I am having with the Continental video I purchased yesterday. The site won’t let me log on. Says my email is incorrect, but it is the one I have always used with you. My ID# on the purchase is 4CL90483MN122712E. My problem is that I get no sound on my new Kindle Fire HD. The video works fine on my PC with the http line you gave us, but not with the PDF. Sorry to use this page, but I got nowhere on the other page. Please help.

  419. Don’t forget that one can be replaced in their professional life, but can NEVER be replaced in their personal life! The knitting world will go on, clearly not as well, but it will go on. The people who love you NEED you and you need to take care of YOU!!! THEN you can take care of the rest of the knitting world! Be well!

  420. Liat,
Sorry to hear you’ve not been well and I was wondering where you went. But know that we will be here when you are well! Take care of yourself!

    Saundra

  421. The only thing you should be worrying about, Liat, is yourself and getting well. Yes, I’ve missed your posts but you just get better…we have lots to practice, thanks to you.
My thoughts and energy are with you
    Bon

  422. Dear Liat,
No apologies are needed! You have a life with ups and downs, ins and outs, like every one of us who’s human. You are such a great knitting inspiration for so many, and we need you healthy and well, so take care of yourself first, please. We can wait, because you are worth waiting for.

  423. So glad to hear from you. I’ve learned so much from your videos and advice and will continue to wanting more. But please don’t be sorry for some down time and dealing with things. Again thank you for everything you’ve done and looking forward to what else you have in store.

  424. Liat – We miss you terribly but want nothing more than for you to get well! You are a fabulous person and talented instructor and I’ll continue to tell everyone about you. I trust your good karma will bring all good things your way. This too shall pass! Shelley

  425. You worried me, but could NEVER let me down. It was your video, purchased through ?? Knitpicks? not you, that taught me to purl continental style. Since, I’ve purchased several more and feel like a friend is teaching me to knit. I lost my mom when I was sixteen. She knit. I’m 49 and the age she was when she picked it up again, not long before we lost her.

Recently, my dad sold the house we grew up in. “What is this crappy bag of crochet crap?” 1. Crochet is not crap. I’ve been crocheting since he had a hospital stay the year after mom died. 2,. It was not crochet. It was the afghan my mother had knit before she died. The one that Bernet still gives a pattern away for. It was in awful shape, but the yarn was fine. Because of you, I was able to repair the worn row (she’d saved all the old yarn and it’s as good as new, being acrylic), and stitch it back together. I am giving it to my sister. I have the pattern and am making one for my family.

You helped me save a precious memory and can never, ever let me down. You’re back does sound like a pinched nerve. See a good masseuse and a good acupuncturist, It does not hurt and both have kept me whole while being old and, until recently, another long story, running and doing triathlons. Which I hope to get back to this summer. Agoraphobia is a pain in the ass. Seriously and it can happen to even the most sane of people. Which means crazy-assed me, is doomed :)

  426. Liat, know what you are going through..sounds like a pinched nerve. Praying for your quick recovery. After a year of not being able to do what I love, am finally back to kniting and crocheting. Give your body time to heal. For now just keep us updated on how you are doing and don’t worry about the other things…it will come!

  427. Take care of your self I have the same issues as you, so I know what you are going through.
Take care of your self first and for most, the web site is not going anywhere, prayers coming your way for a fast recovery.
    Jean

  428. Liat, I missed you! Thank you for letting us know what is going on in your life. Take care of your neck. We will patiently wait for your return. I did have a short visit with you tonight…I was just on your website reviewing the left make a stitch and the right make a stitch increase. I always get them confused. As I have told you before…your videos are the BEST! Take care….later

  429. I hope you feel better real soon! Anyone who has followed you knows what a committed knitter you are, so no need for any guilty feelings. Just get better and I always look forward to whatever you have to say about knitting.

  430. Oh, Liat! Thanks for the update! I was in Stix and thought after I left that I should have asked Britanny how you were doing. I have missed you, but knew you were probably working hard on the new website or something wonderful!! Now, knowing what is going on you need to know that we will all be here waiting for your return, and you must be careful and take care of yourself! Best wishes with your treatments and speedy recovery. You are still amazing. Prayers for you. Bobbi

  431. Hi poor dear! Oh my goodness, your fans and followers are all so understanding, as we all go through life we get an injury and it takes time to heal. Get well first but don’t sweat about us, we are busy knitting and we will be patient. I hope you are feeling better soon. Do try to get medical help though to establish if you need treatment. But alternative therapies have their place too, just eliminate that you need medical help first. We all love you and will still be here when you are better. Just let us know how you are progressing. I hope sincerely that you are not in need of anything but some good massages from your sister. Take care and I’ll remember you iny prayers.

  432. I am glad that you haven’t dropped of the “face of the earth” as they say! I wish I could make you better, it would make us all so happy! Please take care, and take care of yourself. We will be waiting for your triumphant return!

  433. Liat….thanks for letting us know what is going on. Nothing is more important right now than your health, so take care of yourself. We can wait for your return. I have recommended your tutorials and website to so many people and I really appreciate your work. You gave me renewed interest in knitting after being away for so many years and led me to believe I could be a good knitter again. Thanks for a whole new hobby. I am even teaching other people who want to learn to knit! For right now, I am putting you on my prayer list and waiting for your healthy return to us. Do whatever it takes and however long it takes. We will all look forward to your teachings again.

  434. Wow! You’ve been busy and in pain to boot. I also have neck problems in addition to back problems. If I didn’t go to a chiropractor, I would be in a whole world of hurt and would not be able to stand straight or turn my neck. Although we miss you, we understand. Here’s to a speedy recovery! “clink”

  435. Oh how good it is to hear from all of us…….. right? Now you can relax…and let the healing begin. Do what is best for you, your mind, your heart and your body… meaning neck.
Pro Lo Therapy did the trick for me…….. but it’s not or everyone. I hope it helps you … I’m praying for you.
LIAT….. remember, there is no other place I’d rather be than with you and your teachings… videos….etc. I do miss your voice… so soothing, but when I concentrate enough, there you are comforting me…and letting me know ”’ I can do it.””
Be happy…. think positive thoughts… and know we all are going to be here when you start sending out “”” your new site.””” UNTIL THEN…. prayers, hugs from my heart to your heart…. and tons of smiles. Love you ;)

  436. Liat, now hear this… you were a pioneer in knitting videos and along with me you have taught bazillions of us how to not just knit but knit well and have the courage to try new things because you were there to walk us through the techniques. Nothing or no one can ever take that away from me or you , I personally love your videos and still refer to them first and often. New and improved web sites are good and all that but for me knowing you are there 24/7 is the way I first met you is comforting and not in any way threatening or difficult for me to maneuver around in!

I wish you the best in healing your body and soul, please remember your past amazing accomplishments and remain the beautiful and caring young woman that you are and come back and have fun with us.

    Mickey in Iowa

  437. Thank you for the update and I’m sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Your flock will wait for you – take care of yourself and get well!!!!!!!!!

  438. Liat, take care of you. I are so thankful for everything that you have put out there to help me improve my knitting. Do not let the pressure of social networking get you down. While this is a great tool for learning and sharing, it is not to be put above you and your health. I pray for you to have swift recovery and peace. Again thanks and take care.
    In for the long haul,
    Gwynna

  439. You have such an ethical philosophy that always puts us, as customers and followers, first. What a testimony to who you are as a person and we do love you for it! Get well, without that awful guilt thing. We’ll be here when you’re better. You rock, Liat! Godspeed.

  440. So sorry to hear of your injury – I had a frozen shoulder a few years ago and the main was terrible so you have my sympathy and understanding about knitting and blogging is so difficult isn’t it. Good luck with the new website, love your videos and tutorials, look forward to it being announced up and running!
    Love, sue xx

  441. your health is the most important thing you have to take care. We all love your emails and looking forward to when you ARE WELL to your new website.

  442. Rock on wonderful woman! Real and honest – beautiful traits. Guilt be gone! May you somehow make more money than ever and speedy healing be yours! :)

  443. Liat, missed you; but – you come first – TAKE CARE OF YOU, we will be here when you are ready to be back! I am saying prayers for your complete healing:-).

  444. Thank you so much for letting us know what has been going on with you. You have given so much of yourself in your videos (very much appreciated). Please take care of yourself!

  445. Soledad Bervejillo

Querida, no te sientas culpable!

  446. So sorry to hear that you’ve been through so much. I assumed that you were working on the new site but I have to say … please work on you!!!! No site or us followers are not worth the risk to your health. There’s absolutely nothing to apologise for!

See you on the other side of health!! Cheers and my best to you always.

  447. My thoughts and prayers (especially Mesheberach) are with you Liat. Praying for a speedy recovery. I know what it is to be in constant pain–nothing else really matters until you recover your health.

  448. I, too, thought you were busy working on new and wonderful videos for us. So sorry you’re not feeling well. Take care and get well soon. We’ll all be waiting for you!

  449. I don’t think all this guilt you are loading on yourself is helping your neck one bit. You come 1st & the rest will take care of itself

    1. I totally agree. I suspect your neck problems stem from feeling that you are tackling an enormous burden alone. You have already created a fabulous resource. If you can just give yourself permission to take as long as you need on the new one, and stop worrying about the rest of the world, I think you’ll begin to feel a whole lot better. Ditch the guilt! :) Enjoy your creative process. We’ll see you the other side <3

      1. I could not have said it better! Take care dear one. You’re an amazing woman and we love you. We’ll be here when you get back!

  450. if only you could be half as patient with yourself as the world is with you! You have the loving thoughts and prayers of many to lean on…take care of yourself! Hugs (gentle hugs!), Michelle

  451. No need to apologize. Take care of yourself. If I were you I’d avoid the yoga until you find out what the problem is. Feel better soon.

  452. I am so glad you have explained your absence, and let
us know of your injured neck. You poor girl. I feel so sorry for
all you have been dealing with lately. An MRI sounds like the
best bet. Take care of yourself, Liat. There is a big empty hole
where my in box had your wonderful tutorials, but I can wait until
the time is right for you. You have VERY devoted fans. Be well, my friend.
    Kathi xx

  453. You have me crying with you! I figured you were working on something but I never suspected you had an issue. You know you are my knitting angel so I know you will be fine and the website will be fabulous! I’m sending prayers your way ASAP!

    1. MaryBeth Lundeen

I can understand how difficylt it must be right now for you. As a person with chronic pain, i know how it can stop the best laid plans from happening. You are The Knitting Guru, and an angel too, for worrying about us. We all want you well, so take the time you need to heal. We will all be ok till then.

      1. Liat,

I’m so sorry to hear your news. It must be so frustrating for you. One thing about women is we understand what you’re going through. We also are a very loyal group if women and will hang in there with you. Do what you have to and be a good patient.

    2. Please take whatever time you need to heal your body. Your fans will be here for you when you’re able to come back. Reining prayers to you for your recovery.

    3. So very sorry Liat, to hear of your health problems. Years ago I was in traction because of neck problems and it was mostly due to stress. So, relax and take care of yourself and do get an MRI. We all love you and will be here when you are feeling well enough to be back on the site. Blessings and (((hugs))), Donna

    4. Kudo’s for being honest and vulnerable enough to tell us what you are dealing with and how difficult it is for you to do what you must do. Gaye G says it all for me too. Relax, breathe, know we are here for you, happy to wait!

    5. I too have chronic pain in my back due to degenerative & herniated disks. Know this: you cannot tend to yourself properly while worrying about everyone else. This is the tome to be selfish. I believe it is the desire to be perfect, for me, that has gotten me to this place. Take the time & do not devote your energy to anyone but you right now. Nip this in the bud! I’ve been struggling intensely for the last 3 1/2 years. The pain can grow roots. Relax. Let it all go. Best wishes.

    6. Morning Liat! I am so sorry to hear of your back pain and the challenges that has brought into your life. I too, have had numerous back issues throughout my life; most recently last July I herniated and tore 3 disks in my low back. Liat, have you ever heard of or considered NSA-Network Spinal Analysis ?Here is a bit of information on this:
      Introduction to Network Spinal Analysis
Try it out, as a nurse I would not recommend it if I had not enjoyed the benefits myself! Love, healing, and blessings to you, Laura

    7. Ss u r under the weather……neck & back injuries can b really bad. Hope your recovery is very swift. U r n my thoughts and prayers.
