  1. I have a question about turning the heel. The pattern use Wrap & Turns, But the Video shows just turning using decreases. I am using the worsted weight toe up faux-heel flap socks for magic loop. Correct pattern?
    Thanks, Anita

  2. OMG, I thought that I signed up so I was waiting for an email, but no email came and I forgot about the KAL. I really want to learn to knit socks but I am so confused that I don’t even know what questions to ask! I have all the yarn, needles, and stitch markers already (I think).

What I don’t have is the benefit of your instructions, Liat. What have I missed? Where should I go? Do I need to buy a class on socks (I don’t have one, but I do have the Magic Loop class; does that count?)? Please point me in the right direction to get started. I’m pretty sure that I missed the KAL but I hope that it’s available on Memorex LOL.

    1. Hi Hollis,
I’m so sorry! That was my mistake. Since we had so much interest in the knitalong, I sent out the invite only to those who had originally clicked “yes I’m interested.” In retrospect this was not well done and I should have invited everyone. In any case, I have added you to the knitalong now. You’ll receive a bunch of emails getting you ready for the knitalong (we haven’t started knitting yet). They will be spaced about an hour apart. I hope that’s not annoying.
You can open your Knitting Superstar class and go to the Toe-Up Socks chapter. I’ll be sending you emails walking you through the different steps. Your first assignment is to read the first two chapters “Ch. 8 Introduction to Toe-Up Socks, Two-at-a-Time” and “Ch. 9 Project – Toe-Up Socks.”
I hope this helps and I’m so sorry for the mess-up.

      1. I thought I had clicked I’m interested, but obviously, I didn’t or I’d be getting the emails as well. I”ve done them before, but it’s been a few years now and I was interested in doing it with the group. Is it too late to start now?
Thanks for all of your help over the years.
ps Your little man is just precious!

        1. Hi Darlene,
Oh no! I felt sure I had added you to the knitalong when you wrote me last time! I don’t know what happened, I am truly mystified. No, it’s not too late to join us at all. I’ve added you again now and you should be receiving the first email very shortly. Please let me know if you don’t receive anything by today.
          Thank you!
          Liat

  3. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post I am so confused. I am trying to do the worsted wight toe faux heel in a men’s. There are so many numbers in the pattern. is there a version without the high instep instructions? maybe I am missing it. Thanks Theresa

    1. Hi Theresa,
You can post anywhere, I’ll always receive and reply to your comment. You can just ignore the sets of numbers that are for the high instep. Circle the third number (large) everywhere.

  4. The last e-mail I received in my inbox was on May 31 about the sock knitalong. I hadn’t logged into my knitfreedom account because I was expecting another e-mail to let me know that you were getting ready to start the class and I was just browsing yesterday when I saw that it was already in the process of beginning. I have a addiclick short rocket interchangeable needle set (which I love) but my longest cable with the needles attached are 38 1/2″ long and so I ordered a 40″ and 60″ cable yesterday before I saw that you were fixing to start. I would like to order the fynn worsted yarn from Imagiknit probably today even though it is only 175 yards and we need 180 yards if they still have it in stock when I get in touch with them. I messaged you last night about using the fynn at175 yards and just making the socks a little shorter if possible but when I logged in, I didn’t see my message nor a reply. So already I am behind but hopefully will eventually catch up as soon as my longer cables and yarn come in.

    1. Hi Peggy,
I’m so sorry for the rocky start to the knitalong! Because we had SO many people interested, the invitation only went out to those who originally clicked that they would be interested in doing a knitalong. I think that was probably a bad way to go and I’m sorry about that.
You are definitely not behind – everyone is just getting their yarn and needles ordered and prepared.
175 yards is fine for the yarn. Your socks will be a couple rounds shorter, and it will be absolutely fine.
Please let me know if you need any more help!

  5. I have signed up for the class. I look forward to ordering the yarn. I hope I haven’t missed the email with info. to order the yarn.

    1. Hi Sue,
Thank you so much for signing up! I’m sorry it’s taken a long time for me to get you the info about what yarn to order. I was able to send out an email on Sunday with yarn info, and yesterday with another discount code for WEBS. Please let me know if you are all set or if you need help choosing your yarn. Thanks!

      1. I got my order from Imagiknits 2 days ago. I have cast on and am working up to the heel. Enjoying it very much and looking forward to learning to to the heel. I have knit socks before, top down, so learning the cast on and heel are my main goals. Thanks for offering this k it along.

  6. Hi. I have purchased the 2-at-a-time toe-up class (quite awhile ago). Then I signed up for the Knitalong. And now it’s June. Has the class started yet? I’m confused on how this is going to work. Please, some more details and explanations.

    1. Hi Lani,
I’m so sorry for the confusion. You are right to want some more details and explanations! I encountered various obstacles in beginning the knitalong in a timely manner, and because I had some Internet troubles, I wasn’t able to send out an email letting everyone know. I’m sorry if you felt left in the dark!

I have been catching up over the last few days and feel like we are starting to get back on track – at least everyone’s had a chance to order yarn. I will be sending out an email today or tomorrow walking people through which pattern to choose.

I will then send out emails to those who haven’t yet bought the Toe-Up Socks class so that they can buy it.

Once everyone has their yarn, we’ll then start working through the videos in the Toe-Up Socks class one-by-one.

I will also set up a way for a few knitters to do a live chat and live Zoom calls with me.

I hope that helps for now! I really appreciate you asking for more details as I’ve been wanting to explain anyway!

  7. Hi Liat,
I’m so excited to start – I’m not a sock fan (ACK I know!) but knowing you, you’ll convert me!
Do we need both the 2 at a time toe up class and the knit along?
    Thanks,
    Janine in NJ

    1. Hi Janine,
Welcome on board! I’m so glad you are open to learning socks. Even if you’re not a huge fan, you will acquire so many important skills that will help you in the rest of your knitting endeavors in the future.
About the class – yes, you will need to get the Toe-Up Socks class to be able to learn socks. The knitalong helps walk you through the class piece by piece and gives you a chance to get questions answered, but it doesn’t actually show you how to knit the socks.
Right now the class is available at 50% off just for knitalong members. I’ll be sending out an email soon to remind all those who haven’t bought it that they should do so before we begin knitting.
I hope this helps and thanks so much for joining us!

  8. Cezanne Pellett

I’m all signed up, and even bought a membership because I’m so in love with this site now. I can’t wait to get started on my first pair of socks!
I do have a question though (yes, already! 😄) You talk about a discount through Imagiknits in the welcome video, but I can’t find any link or coupon code anywhere. Is that going to be shared later, or am I just missing something? I’m so excited to get started and shopping for new yarn to use will pass the time! 😊

    1. Hi Cezanne,
Great to meet you! I’m so happy you love the site 😍😍.
I’m sorry it took a while to send out the coupon but I was able to get it out on Sunday. Are you all set with your yarn now?
      Thanks,
      Liat

  9. Hi Liat,
I have received several emails about the knitalong (last one May 8th). Does that mean I am already on the list?
    Thank you

    1. Hi Celine,
So sorry for the confusion. This blog post is just me working things out… trying to get set up for the knitalong. I probably shouldn’t have published it yet as it is just a placeholder. I am thinking I will send out an email today to officially get everyone on the list who wants to participate, so just keep an eye on your inbox. I’m also sorry this is taking longer than you were probably hoping.
      Thanks so much,
      Liat
