Use a crochet hook to create a scalloped border on your knitted projects. Even if you've never crocheted before, you will be able to create this easy decorative finish just by grabbing a crochet hook and following the video.

If you’d like to follow along as I knit the swatch above, here are the instructions:

Insert hook into knitted edge, pull up a loop.
Ch 2, dc in same st, ch1, sc in same st.
(Sl st into next st) twice, ch 2, dc in same st, ch1, sc into same st, sl st into same st.

  1. Good basic stitch to clean up edges, add a little something and can be expanded into points, add picots. Suddenly you are making snowflakes. Is a lot of fun. On a long scarf, change it up every foot. Good learning/sampling tool. I am curious on where you heard that English knitting (throwing yarn with right hand) is American knitting? That’s a new one on me. I’ve only heard it called English.

  2. I haven’t crocheted in about 50 years (Oh, my goodness! I’m OLD!) except to chain a “ribbon” instead of doing an I-band or whatever it is called. Thank you for the very clear instructions and video.
